Some are more map editing-related than others. Don't feel like you have to answer all of them; if you can help me out with any, it would be great.
First, how would you go about linking maps together, so that if a person's unit went to a certain location, then a new map would load? In other words, how would you go about creating a map like the Frozen Throne Orc campaign, in which walking to certain regions on the map will take you into caves or into new regions? Lastly, would my triggers be global across these maps, or would they be local to each linked map? And to clear things up, note that I DO NOT WANT A CAMPAIGN. EACH MAP MUST BE LINKED TO ANOTHER WITHIN THE GAME--THERE NEEDS TO BE NO SCORE SCREEN BETWEEN EACH MAP. If at all possible, a zero-loading time between each new map would be good, as well.
Second is also map-making related, but can stretch its usefulness outside of Warcraft. Does anybody know a good music file editing tool to convert from different music file types to others (e.g., such as .wav to .mp3, .midi to .wav, and so on)? If it is cheap or free (none of this $200 whatnot), it is NOT PIRATED MATERIAL, and it is NOT subscription based to where a trial does not end in fourteen days or such, please tell me of it--I am always running into issues with needing sound file conversions. Warcraft III is just another reason to need one of these utilities.
And last, my World Editor jams frequently upon startup. Is this normal, and besides a reinstall or a reformat, how would I go about fixing it? Note that I am on an older platform using Windows 98, and that this issue is definitely confined to software-related problems. It is not urgent, but I figured I might as well ask while posting, as this issue is somewhat annoying at times.
Thanks for any input you might have.
