I wouldn't be posting this unless I couldn't find this in the editor. For my ability Bombing Run, I decided to add an effect. But to make it look realistic, it would require a condition: Cliff at location of casting unit = deep or shallow water. It would add a ripple effect to the explosions, but it would have to be on water. While it would be even more realistic if i set the location equal to units being bombed...thats a bit more work than I really want to go to. Well, can anybody tell me if there is a condition that will detect something like that?

From what I know I don't think there is any way to detect types of terrain :-(

But if its a small map I guess you could use regions...

Untitled Trigger 001
Events
Unit - A unit Is attacked
Conditions
(Terrain type at (Position of (Triggering unit))) Equal to Lordaeron Summer - Dirt
Actions

Now you cannot select water but what you could do is pick a terrain tile and line the area's of your water with it as well as line the water's bottom... Maybe a specific dirt tile you're not already using... then if the mob is on that terrain... BOOM! all you need is pick the tile.. change what i have given ya there.. add in your effect action and Voila!

Hope it works

Oh theres a way. But I am more concerened with cliffs...which you cant seem to detect.
(edit) whoops. Btw, I already thought of THAT. But I didn't want to resort to that. In any case, the effect is not necessary. Although, i might try it out just to see what it would look like, on land as well as water. I just tried the ability out...it finally works, and looks VERY impressive. A couple of drawbacks i have to fix, though...like targeting corpses... I should probably make it target a point rather than a unit, but I was desperate to get it to work.

as long as your using a specific tile when you create the cliffs that should fall under the same thing, you could of course use more than one tile and make a couple triggers to follow those rules.

lordloki: Wow I never knew about that condition before, though I have never needed to use it. Where do you find that under?

theEnigma: I think its fine if it detects what tile because it looks a lot nicer in most cases if the water is a different tile than the land.

okay demon the point of that post was....?

on topic: i think you should just go with Rects(regions) it wouldnt be that annoying

The point of the post was to find out where to find the condition that he posted so that I and probably others would be able to make use of it. It was also telling him that he should go along with the terrain way as water looks nicer if its a different tileset than the land, for example, sand in the water.

Hmm...I guess it isn't in UMSWE or WEU... because somehow I cannot find it! :banghead:

Believe me, i looked there. But cliffs are different than terrain. I cant use the terrain because, for example, i use sand for beaches. Just wouldnt work.

If I am not mistaken there are 2 Main Tiles that are used in maps... generally the Cliff Tile is some sort of dirt... would probably be the 1st tile used.. Now I am sure this would probably be annoying if you have used this tile elsewhere. Buf if for say you have used grass, and dirt was the Main Tile... it might work...

You could also import another dirt type... change the current terrain using the Main tile to your imported one, then it might work....

Just thinking outloud here....
Anything is better than regions if your map is not made for it.

Guys just a heads up I am going to be shutting the site down soon. I am just waiting on the NUON people to decide whether they want to transfer forum data and keep the discord. My email is [email protected] for anyone that wants to keep in touch and I have a facebook too. I will make an official post later. Love you guys and will miss everyone!

Oh no - please don't lose the Nuon content

  • The Helper The Helper:
Someone email AtariAge and see if they want me to transfer the forum data over to it
  • Ghan Ghan:
Could probably keep NUON stuff around here if we wanted.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Hmm what to do about the World Editor site though?
  • Stephen Stephen:
I'd rather personally just own a backup of the Nuon data than see it go to AtariAge honestly. If it gets enshittified as per usual, or if some of the "regular" Jaguar folks get there, it's not gonna be fun
  • The Helper The Helper:
There will be a github of the forum data so the NUON Forum Data I guess would be available there
  • The Helper The Helper:
World Editor is technically Ryoko stuff not mine you guys can keep that I am not in that even
  • jonas jonas:
:( end of an era :(
  • The Helper The Helper:
Dont think of it as an end jonas - think of it as a beginning, because really my friend that is what it is.
  • A Andyoyo:
Thank you for the hard work over the years. It did not go unnoticed.
