Well, my youth pastor was preaching one night when he started the service with this.
The watchman, standing watch on top of the wall of his small castle, was carefully watching the horizon, specifically the dark trees ahead of him, for any sign of enemy approach. On top of this wall, he could see everything. Soon, a large band of enemies were creeping slowly towards his castle. A wave of doubt came over the watchman as he feared that his castle could not withstand the onslaught, and for a second, he thought of not blowing his horn, he thought of the consequences, if he were to survive and his castle were too survive also, the king would hold him accountable for every single drop of blood shed because of his doubt. If the watchman were to blow the horn and his castle were to survive, he would be praised for his good work. Nevertheless the watchman blew his horn loud and clear, and all the men of the castle rushed to get ready for the onslaught. After a brutal attack, the people of the castle fought back the intruders. The king, praised the watchman for his watch over his people.
Well, to sum it up, here is the sermon and the moral of the story.
The watchman are the guardians (I.E. your spiritual leader, parents, wise friends) in your life, they, have experience, they are on top of that wall, they see everything coming at you. You however, are at the bottom, and are staring at the wall, you have no idea what is going to happen to you, and the watchman is your life line for any trouble Satan might throw at you. If the watchman in your life fail to warn you of the trouble, they will be held accountable in heaven one day by God, who is the King.
Basically, your parents, they see the bigger picture, they know what will happen to you if they dont discipline you. Listen to them, or you might just regret it one day.
