Well, my youth pastor was preaching one night when he started the service with this.

The watchman, standing watch on top of the wall of his small castle, was carefully watching the horizon, specifically the dark trees ahead of him, for any sign of enemy approach. On top of this wall, he could see everything. Soon, a large band of enemies were creeping slowly towards his castle. A wave of doubt came over the watchman as he feared that his castle could not withstand the onslaught, and for a second, he thought of not blowing his horn, he thought of the consequences, if he were to survive and his castle were too survive also, the king would hold him accountable for every single drop of blood shed because of his doubt. If the watchman were to blow the horn and his castle were to survive, he would be praised for his good work. Nevertheless the watchman blew his horn loud and clear, and all the men of the castle rushed to get ready for the onslaught. After a brutal attack, the people of the castle fought back the intruders. The king, praised the watchman for his watch over his people.

Well, to sum it up, here is the sermon and the moral of the story.

The watchman are the guardians (I.E. your spiritual leader, parents, wise friends) in your life, they, have experience, they are on top of that wall, they see everything coming at you. You however, are at the bottom, and are staring at the wall, you have no idea what is going to happen to you, and the watchman is your life line for any trouble Satan might throw at you. If the watchman in your life fail to warn you of the trouble, they will be held accountable in heaven one day by God, who is the King.

Basically, your parents, they see the bigger picture, they know what will happen to you if they dont discipline you. Listen to them, or you might just regret it one day.

Eh, this really shouldn't be here, but I guess it's an essay. Whatever. It's an OK sermon.

This should probably be under General Discussion. But if someone moves it there they are throwing you into the lion's den. People are going to tear this apart. I can already see the smoke of the flame war rising in the distance.

Personally, I don't believe in Satan or a traditional concept of "sin" so this essay holds little water for me. Just thought I'd get my two cents in before debate breaks out.

Seb!

You cant stand it, because NO ONE CAN, all this crud about religious stuff bringing problems, its the idiotic people that dont accept other peoples beliefs. You may think what you want, but if you dont think about the moral of the story: that the guardians in your life see the bigger picture and that discipline, means they care is important and all that you can think about it that its in the wrong spot and that religion is crap, that wasnt even the moral, i was teaching you about God, i was teaching you what is right. The decisions you make in life can affect everyone around you, dont screw up because you just dont care and you think just because YOU dont think that the Satan and God things are real, that the morals of life dont apply, well, good sir, get your mind straight. Whether or not you believe in Satan or God, that point is, that you have morals in life, you can do something bad, and consequences arise. Bad things like not listening to your parents, everyone does it, not listening to your parents, and when you grow up, you regret that, ive seen it happen before my eyes. Good things like you give to a charity, and they help the homeless people, or disaster relief. Try doing something good for your parents or, a higher authority, and with a right spirit, you might feel a sense of inner happiness, i do.

Throw away religion for one second, and think about the moral, that is all i ask

I'm going to gloss over the condescending and patronizing tone of that message because I'm not looking for an argument and simply say this: I didn't make fun of your beliefs. I simply stated mine and warned you that you would get flamed by others.

Good day.

Help Users
  • The Helper The Helper:
Actually I was just playing with having some kind of mention of the food forum and recipes on the main page to test and see if it would engage some of those people to post something. It is just weird to get so much traffic and no engagement
  • The Helper The Helper:
So what it really is me trying to implement some kind of better site navigation not change the whole theme of the site
  • Varine Varine:
How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
