Should I fix a ruined map or make a new one?

So, I really need your help.

1. I have a map that I have made since I was a n00b at WE. I've added heaps of things to it such as imports (a lot of 'em), triggered spells, simple AI but there are a lot of things in the map that are still n00bish and I can't find them or find a way to fix them without compromising the structural integrity of the map. Basically, the map looks like Frankenstein with extra parts.

2. I could make a new map that is similar to the old one (I still like the theme I have for it). This will take longer, of course, but I can start everything over and easily make it better without having to fix n00b things like n00b messages, n00b triggers etc ... plus, the map will look a lot better and fresher, too!

3. Give up altogether and make a completely new map/work on another map/help another person on a map.

+rep to those who can help me out. :D

I'd say help with a map or make a new one if you've learned a lot more then you did when making that map

Otherwise if your around the same area still, figure out what you did wrong so you learn from your mistakes and then you can continue on with your project

Yeah, make a new map - just don't try to make the old one better and better - It'll just get worse.

My thoughts exactly. If I had tried to make it even more better, I'm afraid that it'll get worse instead. +rep

I'm still confused between choices 2 and 3 though. +rep to those who can help. :)

No, if you like the concept you should make the same kind of map - number 2.
You can't let a good map concept go to waste ;)

Well, I do like what I have for it, but I'd also like to try different maps (I've never done TDs, Tags and RPGs before). I might work on two maps at the same time, but I'll think about that. Thanks for the help. I can't give rep to you again, Randor244, sorry. :D

Hehe that's no problem ;)

And yes, I think you should work on two maps at the same time - when you grow tired of one, just switch to the other, that way you might get some new, fresh ideas as well.

Three. A lot of people could use help on maps, and if they credit you, you become a WC3 entrepreneur and be infamous!

And besides, it's good experience and if you don't get credit, you can always ruin the map for the person by adding a stupid trigger that has a 9999sec cinematic that at the end has a Naga Royal Guard saying internet memes.

No, nevermind that last part.

But still, that's what I recommend.

How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
