Ok, i didnt realy want to ask for help on this cause i wanted a challenge, but its been for ever and i sitll can't get it right.

I have erased the board and im looking for new ways of making it so when a unit firing a weapon a bullet will start at him and will have an arch for how every long he makes a certain spell on it will go that far and will go up and have that arch and will go down and hit the ground... as if your throwing a football or something.

So like this:

1 second = 10 feet
2 second = 15 feet

and so on untill he reaches 50 feet which then it will go down from 50 to 10 and then back up again... and im having a progress bar from WEU show how far hes going to have it fire.

Like:

1 second = 14.28 % full
2 second = 28.56 % full

and so on adding 14.28 each second untill it gets to 100% full and then it decreases back to 0% full and back up again

Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. I hope to have this past me soon, cause its buggin me and is the only thing thats holding back my map  , but not for long i hope

::Edit::
Also, i need to find a way to have it so when the bullet reaches in range of another unit (other than another bullet) that it will cause that unit to loose health.

The way you've typed this out is uber unclear but I've done a lot of lob-a-bomb spells so I should be able to help you out

Now the best thing for doing these types of projectiles is a unit firing an artillery weapon type, kind of like the wc3 mortar team. You basically create the artillery unit as a unit without a model (so its invis) and no collision then have it attack ground (if possible) or a tracer unit if not possible. The attack should arc in the desired direction.

Now for the charging what you want to do is create some kind of dummy spell with a channeling and trigger it to detect how long the channel went. The longer the channel the further the attack I assume from what you said.

Take the chaneling data, evaluate the facing angle of the casting unit (probably best to do before channel rather than after) and evaluate the distance then fire in the hole!

Ok, i get what your saying here... i think that will work with what im doing :D

I already have that dummy spell... and i think i now how to put that into whats above

Sounds easy enough....

Thanks!

No problem. If you want to see how the finished effect should look, go to the page in my profile, download the map, load it and choose the archer hero and put a point into tranquilizing arrow. It does the up and over effect before exploding into gas

acually, would you mind if i take your artillerly type firing triggers? i will give credit to you... it will just make things A LOT easier on my head...

Since the map im doing is a campaigne im going to have a credit cinematic, which in my mind is gonna look SICK!

Nice work, Sud.

What do you mean, Player 11? I found his explanation of what little triggers you need here easy to understand. It's ABILITIES you need :)

I already answered this for him on OM, me thinks :p

Rin, you talking about Phoenix fire? :D

err... rinpun

i mean for the firing of the weapon because the ability is a dummy if you acually read what he said...

you did alexander...

also... ive finished the second problem... forgot i had it in other map :p

Actually, not Phoenix Fire (that's for autocasting, crazy one. He wants this one castable :D) but rather some projectile such as firebolt, with an arcing (is that a word? loL) as it moves to hit the target.

Hey, have you considered using homing missiles Player 11? Just make a projectile of a speed that is 100+ the usual speed of the aircraft and make it homing, that airplane better move quick :D

i never said anything about an airplane. ;)

*its a surprise... a very good one... a first of its kind in WC3, but you will have to peice togethor what ive being asking for and what ive been saying in my posts to know something of what im doing :shades:*

So, Sud... may i?? BTW... i love the site :D

Well the triggers from my map wouldn't work as-is because my map is 'engined' and a lot of the content flips around between the trigs and engine components. Perhaps later when I'm in front of a worldedit computer I can throw together a hand grenade demo for you or something

are you spying on me.... how did you now i needed this for a HE grenade?

Engined? You mean like a WoW game engine?

Grenades are actually asked for around here quite a bit

Yea, engined in that the map is broken into modules which control all the game mechanics. That's what allows me to run so many triggers in real time.

i can tell... that trailer took for ever to dl but it was worth it! That map looks AWESOME!

Yea, it is a great map to play my own horn, but is suffering a real lack of promotion/people willing to play it. It's got a lot more complexity to it than your typical dota map

Which map might this be?

I'm interested :p

Check the url in my profile (trying not to derail the thread heh)

The trailer takes ahile to dl cause of the detail... i think

but to get back on topic.... not my specialty (hence title)

err.... ummm..... :banghead: ....... ouch ....... err....

What would you think if you have a first person shooter game in WC3? Im just wondering...

here's your nade demo. you'll have to optimize it as it's completely rough draft

Luckily I live in an age with electricity so it's way fucking faster, but when I was just a boy trying to find my place I had some hardcore chefs that made use do things like that by hand. It is WAY easier to get right by hand because you control it and can feel it, but it takes soooooo much longer. And on the scale a modern kitchen requires... I serve 400-500 guests on average per day right now, if I had 100 then we could do things way better
  • Varine Varine:
But we can't do that. In the winter yeah, but I HAVE to get people through here right now so I can afford the staff that we CAN do that. We have about 100 days of summer, and if that summer doesn't make us what it will, then I can't operate the other most of the year with my staff. The owner is talking about closing two days a week to cut down on labor, I told him he should cut down on vacations and it did not go great. I do think I won though, I have to keep my fucking core staff and they have to be gainfully employed
  • Varine Varine:
Sure some of them might take a second job, but I can't just cut my entire staff to unlivable hours, nor can I can cut them off all winter if I want them to come back.
  • Varine Varine:
And also, there is no fucking way I'm pulling these hours come september. I only do this right now because I have to, the second I don't have to be the one doing it I won't be
  • Varine Varine:
I have a 5 person core staff in the kitchen, not including me or Chef Ben
  • Varine Varine:
Though two of those people are likely not making it this year. One of them has been replaced, the other I am kind of trying to. He's being a giant bitch, today I had to get onto him because in the three hours before I left he had taken like thirty minutes for cigarette breaks
  • Varine Varine:
And he was also complaining to me the other day that he was out of weed so couldn't smoke any before work that day, and was confused about why I was annoyed he was telling me, his boss, that he is smoking weed everyday before work.
    +1
  • Varine Varine:
Like yeah I can tell. I don't need to fucking know.
  • Varine Varine:
So now he's getting scrutinized and will not be top of the list. I know I don't have the smartest people but I do expect them to have some common fucking sense
  • Varine Varine:
I did do a rare thing for me and hire a girl last month without warning. Everyone was made at me because I started her at like 21, but she worked with me before and I was like don't care. She made 19 at her old job and I wanted her to come work with me, she is the best
    +1
  • Varine Varine:
I'm going to get her a raise at the end of the summer. She wants to go to school again, but I want her to still work with me so.... she kind of can just tell me what the price is. I can go to 25 if she keeps up. I need to get her onto line more, that's what she wants, but I need her where she is and it's not fair that she doesn't get the little bit of raise that comes with it. She can do it no problem, I've worked with her there.
  • Varine Varine:
It's just hard to move and train people unnecessarily right now. And also the line fucking sucks, it's not any more fun. This is turn and burn so I have the bankroll, and everyone suffers for it
  • Varine Varine:
Eventually we'll get it balanced, we'
  • Varine Varine:
we're starting online orders and stuff, but I also turn that off all the time because I barely keep up trying to be the best at Sysco shit
  • Varine Varine:
I think it's gonna be a good fall and winter though. We're going to have a good staff, they will get along, they will be able to manage the workload and the complications, they know how to really cook this year, like every person on line knows their steak temps. Some of them use thermometers a lot and they don't always use them right, but they do know how to do it. Failure, especially in this field, is the only way to get better. They'll get it
  • Varine Varine:
They won't get feel down while they do the thermometer, but we didn't have an instant read probe when I was learning. Like they did but god knows how off it is, you HAD to do it by feel. Even if the chef was fine with me bringing my own, it takes too long. Poke and know

I recently had an experience with a waiter that really brought down @Varine's point about them being in sales. The first waiter just asked "anything else? deserts?" and when the table shook their head said "ok" and left. Then the other waiter came in and started going off describing the deserts and you could see the heads turning, and they finally got a bunch of deserts
  • jonas jonas:
makes sense if you consider that the tip is basically a commission on sales
