Guide Site Index - How to Navigate the Site

I have been told that the site is hard to navigate and overly complex and I totally agree.

Here is how I spend my day on the site and the links I use to literally see everything in just a couple of clicks, Check it Out!

Also, people try to sign up with the site on fake emails - fuck you. If you want to post here use your real shit - we will defend your sign up information with maximum defense. If you are using a fake email address and are trying to spam we will know. You will not penetrate our spam defenses. Not everybody can post here. It is a fucking privelage. Earn that shit!

Site Guide

Account Details - This is where you manage your profile on the site, change your Avatar, set your Custom Title (if you have one) and this is where you can manage your signature (if you have one).

Latest News - This is the old main page news portal. The Headline News forum displays here. A lot of our old timers use this as site navigation :) The new main page is the Headline News forum.

Headline News - This forum acts as the main page of the site. We try to post 10 articles a day but we do not always get it. I am constantly scouring the news for stuff to post - it is kind of freaky to say, but yeah, this is where you will see most of my content. This is the top of the funnel for the news distribution as I personally distribute articles to the different news forums manually. I personally QC every news article before it goes into the different news forums. You are Welcome!

What's new - This is a list of all the new posts in the forum in descending order by post date. This is how you see the latest content. BOOKMARK THIS!

Current Visitors - This is a list of everyone on the site and what they are looking at. I spend most of my time here watching the bots and fixing broken links just to mess with them - it is super interesting to see what everyone is looking at on the site

Latest Activity - If you are logged in to the site, this is a log of all your activity on the site. I use it to go back and find stuff that I have recently posted if I have updates or edits I need to make. This is a real cool feature of the site if you are a regular user and want to keep up with your content and interactions.

Forum Index - This should really be the main page of the site. You can see all the forums with new posts here and you can see the entire navigation of the site. This page is really the main roadmap of the site. All the pertinent forums are displayed on this page. You can get to all the content of the site from here. BOOKMARK THIS!

The Helper Chat - AKA General chit-chat - This site has always had some kind of persistent chat element and The Helper Chat is what we have been using since we switched to the Xenforo Forum software. You have to be registered on the site to use the chat and this is where the die hard site users hang out and interact! The link is to the main chat page but almost everyone who uses it uses it from the site side bar.

Recipes Forum - This is where all the site recipes are at. I have added alot of recipes over the last couple of years and at one time Google was really loving it. The recipes are still a big part of the site and I try to add at least one a day. Sometimes I take breaks though. The Recipe Index is the master heart of all the Recipes on the site.

Paranormal and Abandoned - The Official Rootless Destinations Paranormal group forum. This acts as the main website for Rootless and is an aggregate of all information. I am a member of the group and practice promotion of the different sites we investigate and the different groups we interact with here. The forum is a culmination of the groups videos and current investigations, plus my research abilities on all the stuff Paranormal. This is a Rootless forum, but I really post everything here and manage this in my promo role. Rootless does all the editing and production of all the content, This forum is very connected with Global Ghost Hunt as Rootless are their official US Brand Ambassadors.

Food Forum - This is where all the food posts on the site go - this forum started organically based on the recipes and food content in the forums. I split this forum off from the Recipes on the site because the Recipes were getting buried under the other content. The Recipes now have there own forum and the food forum is now sponsored by Health Empowers You.

General Discussion - This is where I post all my random stuff that I find that is interesting on a daily basis. Back in the day there were many others that did this like I do now so the General Discussion Archive has alot of similar content just old, and possibly broken links and stuff. I try to bump up interesting stuff I find when I am scouring the Whos Online logs here. The General Discussion Hall of Fame is where the most significant site posts from the General Discussion forum are located.

Technical Support - This is one of the oldest forums on the site that I still mess with. Right now, it is where I try to aggregate Technology News articles that are relevant to Technical Support. This is a help forum but really nobody helps anymore and I will always do my best but nobody ever asks. I just try to get relevant interesting and informative Tech Support related content in here. At some point I invision this forum losing the Tech Support aspect and just being the Technology News forum. I spend alot of time here though as alot of news content goes into here.

All Atari - I am a total Atari fanboy and have been following them since my childhood with the 2600. I lurk in obscure Atari forums to post the coolest shit I can find that I think is interesting :) The best place to get info about Atari is on the Atari Age site but this forum is specialized news for the discriminating Atari fan that has no time to go through every obscure forum to get the latest news :)

Official NUON-Dome NUON Discussion - Passion project of mine. I was one of the first NUON buyers and have been in it since the beginning. This forum is the closest thing to official as we still have an ex NUON employee on board. We are trying to get the NUON the Respect it deserves! Our main goal right now is getting an emulator but we are advancing on all fronts, just at NUON speed, which is slow :)

The Helper Discord - This is our site Discord and it is mainly used by the NUON Dome forum though sometimes we see some old time Helpers in the House! If I am on the Discord I am talking Retro games. Also, I am probably drunk :) The Discord is not well organized so many times NUON posts will end up in the General channel and vice versa but really it is not that big of a deal. The Discord is where you want to go if you want real time information on stuff especially the NUON. The NUON Discord channel is probably the most up to date information on the platform. I am not in there all the time, but it is a major part of the site and if more people were there I might be there more.

Cool Recurring Content (Thread Index)

There are certain threads in the forum that I have been keeping up with for years. Here is a sampling of that content - a Thread Index!

Funny Picture Thread 2.0 - This thread and its daddy have been added to for at least a decade. The latest thread is over 17 pages long. The best way to view this content is from the last page moving forward. The latest content will always be on the last page. The original funny pictures thread is over 135 pages long and unfortunately, has quite a few broken pictures.

Cool Picture Thread 2.0 - Like the Funny Pictures, this thread and its daddy have been added to for over a decade. There are significantly less Cool pictures than Funny pictures but it is still added to on the regular. The latest content will always be on the last page.

What are you listening to? - This thread originally started over 20 years ago. This is the 2 incarnation because the first one just got so big. If I am jamming to something in the background or I find something good on YouTube it goes here. Been like that for over 20 years. Latest content is always on the last page of the thread!

Retro Computers and Classic Consoles are my Passion when it comes to YouTube - Another passion project of mine is vintage computers, consoles and gaming. This is an index of cool retro themed and information videos. I am constantly watching this stuff so I am updating this thread quite often!

MMA and Combat Sports Video Thread - I used to have a whole Combat Sports forum back in the day but I took it down many years ago. I am a MMA and Combat Sports fan so I tend to watch alot of that content. I share the cool and free fights and documentaries quite often.

Bad Ass Video Thread - Another video compilation, this one contains awesome Action video scenes in movies or shows. The best and the most bad ass videos are posted here. I do not post here as often as some of the other threads on the site because I try to really only put the cream of the crop here!

Hoof Trimming Videos - Warning some Videos might be somewhat graphic because of infections and such... Proceed with Caution - Something about these Hoof Trimming videos just hypnotize me. I just find it very interesting and satisfying to watch these trims. I feel like I am kind of knowledgeable about this stuff because I have watched so many videos. I know what the wall horn is, the corium, sole ulcers, blocks, and so much more about this stuff :) I am constantly updating this thread with the latest cool Hoof Trimming video.

The Official Scientology thread Ver 2.0 - This thread and its OG older brother are an archive of all the Cult of Scientology news we have posted throughout the years. I used to live close to the Scientology Mission in Houston, TX and when Anonymous protested them back in the day, I was there protesting with them. There has been a renewed interest in people escaping the Cult of Scientology and a big network of ex Scientologist YouTubers called SP TV and others are springing up everywhere. Some serious drama erupting in that community and the Cult of Scientology is always an interesting watch! I add news and videos to this thread regularly.

This document is Work in Progress and might contain some broken links and/or typos. I am actively working on this so it will be changing quite a bit until I am done. I do not edit this offline so wherever I am at when I stop is what is here :)

I would be there for days, even with my camera set up slides can take a long time, and if they want perfect captures I really need to use my scanners that are professionally made for that. My camera rig works well for what it is, but for enlargements and things it's not as good.
  • Varine Varine:
I've only had a couple clients with that so far, though. I don't have a website or anything yet though.
  • Varine Varine:
Console repair can be worthwhile, but it's also not a thing I can do at scale in my house. I just don't have room for the equipment. I need an office that I can segregate out for archival and then electronic restoration.
  • Varine Varine:
But in order for that to be real, I need more time, and for more time I need to work less, and to work less I need a different job, and for a different job I need more money to fall back on so that I can make enough to just pay like, rent and utilities and use my savings to find these projects

  • Varine Varine:
Another couple years. I just need to take it slow and it'll get there.
  • jonas jonas:
any chance to get that stolen money back?
  • jonas jonas:
Maybe you can do console repair just as a side thing, especially if there's so much competition business might be slow. Or do you need a lot of special equipment for that?
  • jonas jonas:
I recently bought a used sauna and the preowner told me some component is broken, I took a look and it was just a burnt fuse, really cheap to fix. I was real proud of my self since I usually have two left hands for this kinda stuff :p

I am still playing Shapez 2. What an awful thing to happen, Varine, and hopefully everything has been sorted out soon. Always use multi-factor authentication whenever you have the opportunity to do so.
    +1
  • Varine Varine:
I think all of the money is accounted for now, and all the cards have been changed out, so I think for the most part it's taken care of now. Just need to go through and make sure all of my accounts are secured again, it's just time consuming.
  • Varine Varine:
And yeah everything has 2 factor turned on now, or at least everything I can think of at the moment.
  • Varine Varine:
The consoles don't need too much equipment that I don't already have. I would like to get a reflow oven, but I don't really want to buy one so I'm thinking about modifying a toaster oven I have to make something that will work for what I'm doing.
  • Varine Varine:
I have the soldering irons and reflow and all that, but without an oven it's kind of hard to build mod chips and things like that. I made a handful of them with a hot air station, but it's a pain.
  • Varine Varine:
The only thing I'm not really set up for is BGA rework. I've done it before a little bit, but not reliably, and that equipment is wildly expensive. You need X-rays and shit.
  • Varine Varine:
I also have a couple 3D printers. I'm not super good with those and need to get an enclosure built, but they'll be useful for some aesthetic mods I've been thinking about. At least I can use them to do designs and then just have someone else print out the parts for me once I know they work.
  • Varine Varine:
I also use them to make adapters for all my camera shit, but that's also an on the side thing for now. Lens adapters get really expensive.
  • Varine Varine:
I've been trying to do some little art pieces as well, but I'm not much an engineer so they haven't gone great. I got some new things showing up to try and play with
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build this tesserect kind of thing with mirrors, and I've been trying to make this like black hole diorama. In my head it looks really cool, but I kind of thought I could form polarizing lenses into a sphere but I tend to just destroy them every time I try.
  • Varine Varine:
So I got a new idea, but I'm not sure how to make it work like I want without being able to get a polarizer curved. I think they are made out of PVA typically, and I thought I could just heat it up a little bit to soften the film, but that clearly isn't working. So I'm going to try a few other things, I'm thinking if I put a mirror film over the polarizing film I might get something cool. I have some polarized LED's as well, and I think if I make a central light source I can use the mirrors combined with the polarizers to make that central light APPEAR black. I have next week off so I'm going to spend some time trying to figure it out
  • Varine Varine:
The tesserect works, at least. I just need to figure out how to be able to assemble it, but I think I have a pretty good idea of how to go about it. Or at least a prototype of it. I'll post some pictures next week
  • jonas jonas:
That last bit sounds like the last entry in a scientist's journal in a destroyed research facility in a post-apocalyptic video game
  • Varine Varine:
    lol it's not that exciting
  • Varine Varine:
    Shiny tho
  • Varine Varine:
Basically it's a cube with a two way mirror on the inside, and then a smaller cube suspended in that with a mirrors on the outside of it. Kind of like those infinity pictures where they use two mirrors to go forever. Only it's twelve mirrors
  • Varine Varine:
And the tiniest LED strip I could find
