ok, i just read through warcraft 3 searc.ch,
what do they mean when they say the freehand it.
and do certain things have to be in certain places?

Eh dont listen to wc3search's members, all they do is compete and brag. If you dont make a 150% quality image completely freehand (no filters, no patterns etc) then they call you a noob even if your skin looks good.

lol, i believe you there. they all a bunch of losers and idiots compared to everyone here, but still! i really really wanna know what they mean and if it has to be in a certain spot!! :(

ok, so like i think the skin is 256 by 256 pixels, but does the head have to be in a certain spot, or can you put it anywhere on that area?

Well yeah it has to be in the right spot... I dont know what the hell you can be thinking that it knows exactly where the head is if its not in the wrapping area :o

then exactly how the heck do they know where to put the head on the skin?
so many questions... :D guess it wat happens when your little

Lol well you just make sure you cover most of it, i dont think 100% has to be redone before they count it as freehand (But im sure if you leave a sword the same they will say OmGz0r nOob LefT teH SoRd dA Smae!

actually, i dont think im ever going to join wc3search, its so mean compared to here :D friendly enviroments rule!

im gong to answer some of your questions. the way the game knows how to stretch a skin over a model is with the wrapping configuration thingy. you set verticy points to certain parts of the skin. so if you make a custom model, you have to set all the verteces in the model to certain parts on the skin to align it all up.

as for freehand, duh, that means no filters/some1elseswork/partdirectl;yfromoriginalskin in that area. although you should always use old lines on areas as guide lines.

hey, could someone help me figure out how the UVW unwrapping thingy works?! ryokos tutorial is like floating through one side and coming out the other...

thanks foop!

ryokos tutorial is like floating through one side and

Agreed. I had two read it 15 times. If im uderstanding everything everyone has said correctly if you made your own model and were applying the skin to it you could make it make sense and unwrap it correctly.

The tutorial, basicly you open up a screen where the model is there and you select areas and then go to another screen where you see all the vertexes of that area over your texture (skin). Then you move the vertexes intill the model (which you can see) looks good.

Notice the lack of a certain link on this site?

Lol that is great impression. I swear I read that exact thing yesterday on some rating posts.

Hey Ghan, whatever cron job its part of its not running its been the same for days. If it does not work can we remove it?
  • The Helper The Helper:
    LOL! A tweak job!
  • The Helper The Helper:
this is the fix I get from that yeah this is hard to control. disabling bots is pretty much necessary as ai and other bots would push really old threads to the top. reduce weight of view count. disable guest view tracking if you really want to push active threads to the top. a bit of tinkering for a few days with the weights and other settings should get you a decent trending widget box.
  • Ghan Ghan:
I changed the settings a bit.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Narrowed it to 7 days for the half-life and set views to 0 weight.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I dont think Trending would work for this forum it would be better to just have the last 5 posts from anywhere
  • Ghan Ghan:
Probably will have to give it some time to update.
  • Ghan Ghan:
I'm guessing it is not retroactive.

One thing I have noticed and I dont know if it is by design but like 1 out of 3 times I come to the site the Anubis screen just hangs open, if I refresh it will go away but sometimes it hangs
  • Ghan Ghan:
    I've seen that as well.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Wow - the change in the stats are major. I kind of knew it was all bots but wow, to see the effect. Why the social media sites cant do something like this I have no idea.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Probably inflates their numbers so they look better to advertisers.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Yeah google does not filter those bots. I remember when Apex was doing Google ads I saw the same IPs in there as I was seeing here - google is totally tracking all those bots as traffic and most google traffic, at least ours, was all bots
