Slow load!

Hey need help, i'm gettin very annoyed w/ bf42.
First, when i first installed the game, ran perfect no troubles what so ever. Now when i load levels, the music cuts in and out, and my loading time is 5 mins. What the heck?
Secondly, i also installed Desert Combat (mod for battlefield), strongly recommend downloading. and then theirs a little grey box on the right side of the screen. my friends say they dont get the prob. on their computers, somethin about lights up when u capture a flag, i dunno.
Finally, these problems started after i installed C&C: Generals. But, even when i uninstall C&C, i still have the same problems.
maybe there is a conflict between two EA games on one computer im not sure.

Specs are:
GeforceMX 4 (64 MB)
AMD Athlon Xp 2000+
Gigabyte motherboard
Avance AC97 ( i think)
256 Ram

try checking your ide settings in your system menu under hardware devices you may be running in "pio mode " if so switch your hard drives over to ultra dma mode if suported , that fixed it for me

were is that in Windows XP, pio mode or what ever its called.
how do i get to it?

Check you don't have a joystick driver loaded, but not have the joystick plugged in.

get 256 mb more ram. This is your problem. trust me.
 
Yes, 512mb of ram will fix alot of your loading probs. I went from 256mb of ram to 1gb and now I can load maps in 5-15 sec.
 
im running at 512 ram and it ain't helping me. i've got the same prob.
 
Could be a sound issue. Sound can hurt loading and Frames Per Second as bad as Graphics card issues. You can try to disable all sounds to see if that helps.
Keep all drivers up to date. If your graphics card supports it update to DirectX 9.0b.
 
Ok I had 512 megs of ram and the load times were slow.
My card is nvida geforce fx 5900 and I have a 2.4 gh pentium 4 processor. I reasently upgraded my ram to 1 gig and the load time is still over a minute. How the hell can you get it in 5-15 seconds.I really dont think its a sound isse I turned it off!

I have this same problem with load time.
It takes me around 7-8 min to load a map. Doesn't matter whether I'm server or client it just takes forever. My BF and DC are right up to date but it still happens.
Driving me crazy. I know it's nothing to do with my computer speed or performance, cause it's a beast, and it also loads up 10times faster on my dads old P3 800.

Current specs :

P4 2600
ASUS P4800 motherboard
Radeon 9800pro vid card
Audigy 1 sound card
1gig ddr ram

All drivers are up to date and everything, and system is pretty much optimised. Buggered if i know what the problem is.

loading times in battlefield are about 30 seconds,
in DC, over 2 minutes. Ive tried about everything to speed them up, nothing helped.

Please help me
 
256 is not enough ram to load battlefield with any kind of speed. or too play it with any kind of non choppyness. it wont work. upgrade to 512 atleast. and for who ever that was who was wondering how you can get 5 to 15 sec loading times i cant get that myself.. but i can get under a min in any of the DC maps right now with only 512 megs of ram.. im upgrading to a gig this week . processor speed has a bit to do with it as does ram speed. im running pc 2700 ddr ram which is decent.. not the fastest but its good. there are alot slower chips out there. . maybe thats why you are getting 2 min loading times is because your ram doesent have a fast transfer rate. also what is the front side bus speed of your processor. could be 400 where as some people have 800. Just a thought
