Social Group Request Thread

Here at The Helper.net we have recently received a new feature for V-Bulletin, the User group or Social Group feature. This allows members with special permissions to make special member groups that have their own members and discussion boards!

At this present time, only Moderators and people who have received signatures are allowed to create their own social groups. While all other members are allow to join any public or moderated social groups on the forum. (Invite Only groups, of course, are only for members who are invited into the social group.)

Though if you are one of those members who are unable to make a social group this thread is for you. This thread is made for those who wish to request a social group they would like to have.

So if you wish to request a Social Group please fill out the form below and reply to this thread, ONLY:

Name of Social Group: (The Name that your Social Group will be called)
Type of Social Group: (Moderated or Public, At this time Invite Only is not allowed to be Requested)
Group Image: (The Image that appears on your board and on the index, Optional)
Summary: (What this Group will do, etc.)

Please remember that even if you request a Social Group, it doesn't mean that it will automatically be created.

Some Guidelines before Requesting:

• At this present time, Normal Members (Members without a Signature). Are unable to make a social group for themselves, this also means they are unable to Maintain (Be the leader of, mod of,) a social group. Mods are unable to change that, only the admins have such permission. Meaning that position has to be filled by a mod, until further notice or you receive a signature.
  
  
• Try to be appropriate with your request. It may sound like a silly and fun idea but if it will easily offend a group of members. (This means it is ether, racist or discriminate.) It will probably be turned down.
  
  
• Try to be realistic with your request. If your request for a group doesn't sound like it will actually receive members, than it probably be turned down. As a social group is more than just one devoted fan to a specific topic that no one even knows about.
  
  
• This is not the thread to request an invite for membership of a social group. If you want to be in an Invite Only Social group you must be request it from the person who maintains it.
  
  
• Do not be angry or frustrated with a mod just because your group was turned down. If you do so, it is highly unlikely that you will ever get another chance to make or request a social group ever again.
  
  
• Please remember that even if you request a Social Group, it doesn't mean that it will automatically be created.
  
  
• If you break any rules in your social group, Moderators do have the rights to change ownership of your group or even disband the group itself.

Miz might have been planning on making the groups, but I don't think theres a law against asking someone else to. Do you have anything against Miz?


BTW, Miz. I have a question. . I'm allowed to transeferr the ownership of my group to somebody else, but am I allowed to do it to someone who can't create them?

(BTW I won't be the only mod approving social groups.)

As for someone else making the groups. If we don't know, we can't really enforce it. Though be warned if the number of groups get out of hands. The entire feature may be removed. This is an idea that the mod community came up so that normal members could have social groups they wanted, but in return we would still be able to control the number of groups.
A win, win, situation.

At this present time, if the people don't have permission to make the group they can't have it transferred over to them.

I've been waiting for that answer.. I'm not suspicious, I don't look like one. Besides I can maintain the group below for it won't yield that much memberships at the start. I'll take responsibility for its maintenance..it'll be a fun job! (well I'm mostly active here). No other Dream Theater fan is more enthusiastic than I do..

Normal Members can't actually "maintain the group"; Ghan made the system so you don't have permission, I and other supermods would maintain the group but you would be the Group Leader. (Meaning we have to ask you before making any changes, unless you broke rules or policy of the site.)

My only question is would there be any other members that would join this "Dream Theater Fan Club" (Because I have never heard of it)

I feel that this would cause some stereotypes, racism, and some other bad things that will just lead to flame wars and hurt feelings. So I will have to say no on this one...

Do we really need this social group? The group is restricted since you require to be a certain race, I think you should make groups that you are always allowed to join. I don't have nothing against Filipino, I'm just saying...

If so ever that you wont allow another group for exclusive for worpress people then we might consider them their fair share. Though for other platform users have to deal with it. Here is the fair share for blogger and wordpress..... A mixed icon....
