Solty Rei

Solty Rei is an Anime set in a sci-fi modern world controlled by an organization called RUC (Reestablishment Universe Committee), who controls everything from security to water and electricity. Air and space travel is prevented by a huge Aurora, called the Aurora Shell or Altitude Barrier, covering the entire planet, and destroys anything that goes too high.

It follows the story of Roy Revant, an ex-cop turned bounty hunter, who lives in a world of pain and desperation since the disappearance of his daughter in a catastrophe called "the blast fall." He had made a promise to his dying wife that he would protect their daughter, and was destroyed when he couldn't keep that promise, and led him down a path of hate, taking vengeance on his unfortunate victims.

The Blast Fall was massive disaster, when a bolt of lightning, generated by the Aurora shell, struck a communication tower and caused an incredible explosion, wreaking havoc, killing hundreds, and injuring thousands. Many people all share the sting of loss for relatives killed in the explosion.

One day, while out on a mission, a mysterious girl falls in front of him, saving his life. The girl then follows Roy, who attempts strongly to dismiss her. She keeps following her, and saves his life again, in the process revealing extraodinary strength and abilities. Eventually, he grows close to her, due to her cheerful and happy nature, and is granted guardianship over her and gives her the name "Solty," after he spots his "Solty Rock" record. She takes immediatley to the name.

Roy then encounters the proud, vain Rose Anderson, who calls herself "the Blue Comet." She is a criminal who works with her brothers Larry and Greg Anderson to liberate important resources, medicines and materials for the people in the underground cities, outcasts and refugees, shunned by the outside world and left to fend for themselves.

It's a great adventure story filled with fun, and sharp, gut-wrenching twists. While appearing to be mostly fun and adventurous, the story is much darker than you would think, with much violence and pain felt throughout the entire series.
