sound in battlefield fucked up

hey people
i really dont get it. I've tryed everything but it just wont work. I hear music and everything when I start up the game. the sound works pefectly even during loading a scene and breifing... but as soon I start the actual game and land at the entering menu *where you choose which weapons etc* the sounds gone.. the game works good but there is no sound.. nothing at all.. I have tryed downloading the newest drivers, and fingering around with all sorts of settings in the game and in my sound configurations. i've tryed every help i could find on the internet...
i have a soundblaster player 1024!... i just dont get it..
can someone help?????

have you tried a reinstall yet? it's possible that you were running something else during installation and something scrambled the sound code when you join a server. what sort of connection do you have to the internet, and what options do you have selected for the audio menu?
