ok how do i get creeps to spawn only if a certian unit is alive

No, that won't work. Your condition should be more along the lines of "hq is alive equal to true."

(No unit is alive) Equal to True

Unit - Create 1 No unit-type for Player 1 (Red) at (Center of (Playable map area)) facing Default building facing degrees

Or, if you are spawning those units from the start of the game and only want them to stop when a particular building is destroyed.

Then instead of checking every (x) seconds you could stop the spawn trigger when its dead.

Specific Unit dies: (the unit is stored as a variable, or if preplaced just click it)

Actions: Turn off <spawning Trigger>

To add a variable to a specific unit event you need a trigger to add a new event though.
