Not really sure why I got such a bad score on balance, I put a lot of effort into balancing it for melee. Maybe someone can explain it to me?

That is not your fault, mine. I checked the scores at least three times but there's still a typo. The 6 must actually be a 9. However, that would leave you with 61 points, still and the top 5 remains unchanged.

Sorry for inconvenience.

I am sorry, but I had to disqualify Exide.

Using a GUI-JASS hybrid was not allowed.

-I don't get it. There's not GUI-JASS hybrid in my map?

You made the spell in GUI, converted it into JASS and pretty much replaced globals with locals. Some of them. You used pseudo-globals and converted GUI.

The rules for this contest were pretty loose, however that was the only thing I did not want to see and I explained in the first post: no GUI-JASS hybrids.

All of this could have been avoided if you had just sticked to the GUI version and not disabled it.

:)

Try your luck in the next spell contest!

That coming from a guy who didn't support seeing that BJ in triggers and said he likes to code with no BJ in it :p

That was like a million years ago! And I learn something new every day, including that initialization BJs which inline the code are not so bad.

PolledWait is a leaking BJ... We still use it.

I agree, but since I just do spells from time to time and I don't plan on releasing any map, I won't bother to learn to use anything else as it would just waste my time. I'll keep doing it in my old fashioned way. I keep thinking at the first spellmakers. Imagine that they didn't had even this obsolete system and they couldn't transfer information and handles like that .

Just go with the flow, man.

:p

Copy the PolledWait code, fix the leak and shove it into your own library to use instead of the normal one. I call mine PW.

Thanks for fixing that up, thought I'd gone crazy or something. Though I'm still wondering how I scored less in balance than some spells that are 3x more powerful.

Not worried though, it would be hard to be 100% consistent with that many maps to mark. :p

That sucks.
I'm not going to argue this. I just want to say that I think that plain sucks.

Congratulations to the winners. :) I really liked your effects, Smith_S9, but it was a bit hard to understand what was supposed to happen, by the tooltip and the visual as well.

I lol'd when I saw I got a wow-factor of 3, I didn't do much to plan out the looks. I guess I was trying for more points in the other categories.

Once I tested, I realized it didn't look very good, and tried to work on it a lot more, by adding a fireball destroy effect on the targets, making the fire smaller, and seethrough, but I just couldn't get anything to look good. : /

Since this was mostly a coding contest (for me), I was looking more at my coding score. Was there anything that could have been done better besides the is-unit-in-bounds being in lined?

I think that if we have a next contest, a bit longer descriptions for the score would have been better to help out the contestants.

NEVER!

Seriously, it's the time I would waste that it's stopping me. I'll just do it that way. Heck, it seems my obsolete Handle Vars managed to get a second place and I didn't lost because of coding .

Yeah... I have the habit to make complex, unexplainable spells xD.

Darn, I failed. Well I'm really glad you went through the extra time to give us custom comments. So Andrew doesn't like my timers eh? I used them to time the periodic bursts of flame. I suppose Phoenix Fire would have been more practical, but is there an option to give it splash damage as well?

Gah...all I wanted was my custom title :(

It took a long time for Ken to rep me for Texturing Contest (thanks him for remembering that though.. or was it me..? And was it even Texturing Contest?). So don't expect to get the rep very sooooon... :p

I repped the top 3 few days ago.. or yesterday? God summer makes me forgetful.

lol, my overall score was 62, i didnt expect that my spell would get a high score, because the spell is just so simple and easily coded, even a newbie can do that

anyways, congrats to moonslinga'

How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
