Spells based off upgrades like moon glaive

How do you make spells (more like passive abilities) based off of upgardes like moon glaive? I have no idea.. cant do it the basic way
 
Its called tech tree requirments.
There are in the object editor > Ability > Tech Tree ...
 
Moon Glaive (the spell) do nothing, it is there to tell you you got the upgrade.
 
So how would I do this? Make 4 Moon Glaive upgrades and have each point give a certain upgrade ???

could you be more specific? does each level give the same upgrade (increase the number of targets) or do the levels give different upgrades?

The first case is easy... just change the Stats-Levels field to 4, and change the Data- fields for each level.

For the second case, you could have separate abilities for the additional upgrades that have the moon glaive as a research requirement (like the way druids of the claw have to research before they get bear form).
 
yeah y cant we come out with a hero ability for every upgrade and normal unit abilty???:D:D:D

lol that would make it so much simpler than going through all the triggers
