Spontanious Rebooting

Recently, my computer has started to restart itself all the time!
I start a download, and then come back to find my computer has restarted! very annoying...

Heres a list of things i know aren;t causing it to reboot:

-Overheating: I know my computer isnt overheating because I use hardware monitors.

-External Power Supply: I know it isn't an issue with external power because my computer would immediatly shutdown, and remain offline in the event of power loss.

My specs are:
Mobo: AOpen MX3L Celeron 400MHz @66MHz
Hard drives: 2x 4GB
RAM: 320MB SD (non shared) [128 x 128 x 64 ]
OS: Win2k w/ SP3

however, I did recently install a new Video card and modem...
the problems haven't occured until after this hardware was installed.

not sure whats causing it though... help please.

Did you install the latest drivers for both your video card and modem ?

Video cards themselves can overheat, but I don't believe they usually crash the system when doing so. I also don't believe this is much of an issue as it used to be when they wouldn't put fans on video cards and just rely on the heatsink. You may want to do a process of elimination, try removing the modem and see how the system works, if it still crashes, put modem back in, try your old video card. If it turns out to be your video card, then you might just need a better fan/heatsink combo. If it doesn't turn out to be your video card, you might want to run a ramtest on your RAM.

that could be your problem right there. NO HEATSINK!?!?! jees my moms old comp has a heatsink on its graphics card. You might of permanently damaged your graphics card already

Not all video cards require a fan or heat sink. ATI's 3D Rage Pro is an example.
