Having some problems. I am unable to join or create games in starcraft or BroodWar I don't know what the problem is. I am perfectly capable of joining and creating games in WC3.

I have DSL internet through a router, all firewalls are disabled. Ports 6112 (TCP and UDP), 4000 (TCP) and 6113-6119(TCP) are all configured in my router and opened.

SC and BW are both brand new games, I installed them into my computer last week, and haven't been able to play online since installment. I don't get any error messages, just messages saying I cannot join games, and people get the same ones when trying to join my games.

I'd *really* appreciate some help, seems as though no one can helpme with this.

I can't play without the router. Through that is how I get my internet.

There is no way to plug the Internet connection directly into the computer? (It is possible that you can't do this... some ISPs give you a router which is has the DSL modem built into it.

Is there an option in the router to set your machine as the DMZ host?

War3 has better NAT support than previous Blizzard games but I am able to play SC behind a router just fine, with no special port settings required at all (unless I want to host a game in which case I need to play with the port settings)

I can connect to the internet without the router, but then that would cut other internet users from the internet.

I have dmz thing, but I'd have to enable the firewall, and I don't even know how to use it.

What DMZ does it forward all ports to a specific computer (basically putting it outside of any firewall)

Oops, It got cut off... I also need to know this because I'm also behind a router and although I tried to be in the DMZ, it didn't seem to help... I can only join WC3 and D2 games but when I do join SC games, it lags me out within the first 5 seconds...

I can't even join sc games, heh, but wc3 works perfectly for me.

Just out of curiousity, i was wondering if anyone knew the answer to this?

I'm also running behind a router, and will probably be playing SC soon again, so anyone know the answer?

It seems to be a pretty popular problem.

Sorry to bring up old posts... but... i was looking through the old ones, because i knew this question had been asked, but there seemed to be no final answer to it.

this is the fix I get from that yeah this is hard to control. disabling bots is pretty much necessary as ai and other bots would push really old threads to the top. reduce weight of view count. disable guest view tracking if you really want to push active threads to the top. a bit of tinkering for a few days with the weights and other settings should get you a decent trending widget box.
  • Ghan Ghan:
I changed the settings a bit.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Narrowed it to 7 days for the half-life and set views to 0 weight.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I dont think Trending would work for this forum it would be better to just have the last 5 posts from anywhere
  • Ghan Ghan:
Probably will have to give it some time to update.

One thing I have noticed and I dont know if it is by design but like 1 out of 3 times I come to the site the Anubis screen just hangs open, if I refresh it will go away but sometimes it hangs
  • Ghan Ghan:
    I've seen that as well.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Wow - the change in the stats are major. I kind of knew it was all bots but wow, to see the effect. Why the social media sites cant do something like this I have no idea.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Probably inflates their numbers so they look better to advertisers.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Yeah google does not filter those bots. I remember when Apex was doing Google ads I saw the same IPs in there as I was seeing here - google is totally tracking all those bots as traffic and most google traffic, at least ours, was all bots

Weekend went by too fast. Next weekend I am going to try to do a nature thing - buddy of mine lives by the Colorado river and has some kayaks and invited me to do some kayaking from a place he knows to get on the river.
  • Ghan Ghan:
    That sounds like an adventure.
