Welcome to the first Starcraft II modification on The Helper. While this is quite a small mod compared to some we are bound to see, it is still worthy of use. The modification basically replaces all the original Protoss skins with ones that fit the Dark Protoss scheme shown on the Stalkers, Void Rays, and Dark Templars. The mod is compatible with multiplayer and you can use it while versing other players on Battle.net 2.0. As for the people who have a cracked version of the Starcraft 2 client; I cannot guarantee that it will work as I have not tried using it.

Here are a few screenshots:

I'm currently working on changing the User Interface into a Dark Protoss theme, so a download should be up shortly. Remember that this is ONLY a visual modification, it does not affect gameplay at all. Thanks to RandomUser12 for his awesome "Re-skinning Sc2 Units" tutorial!

~ Stay tuned ~

(NOTE: This will not affect Warcraft IV. It is just a simple visual modification I made because I love the Dark Protoss and their theme. I'm currently playing around with the files in Starcraft II Beta so I'm a little occupied with that. Updates on the Edge of Eternity will continue as planned)

Just a bunch of re-colors, it seems.

Yeah, it's nothing too drastic. I don't really have time to completely re-skin each and every skin while I have my other project. It's just for the Dark Protoss lovers out there.

I think it gets the job done

I had planned on doing this once I found out how to make files work without importing them back into the original mpq. so I could upload a small mpq for peopoel to DL and put in the right directory.

I'll let you know if I work it out.

Here's a new screenshot. I've managed to edit the Probe portrait (it seems that they ARE models, not video clips) and the User Interface.

That'd be helpful, do tell when you can

Actually, I'm fairly sure they are both. You can toggle between video and models for portraits in game.

Interesting... Though not too surprising as custom games would need a way to include portraits.

They are separate models than the in-game ones though, right?

Ive just found out how to get them working without re-importing them into the base.mpq file. It turns out that SC2 will read textures straight from the directory before it checks the mpq. So all you need to do is put the textures (in .dds format) into the following directory 'StarCraft II Beta/Assets/textures' and you're good to go.

heres a SS of my dark protoss mod, tried to get in as much stuff as possible.

and here is my dark toss textures file, just extract it to your SC directoy if you wanna use it.

Hi,

Went to download your Dark Protoss theme and it said that is was missing or wasnt there. I was hoping that you could put it back up. Thanks.

P.S. Great Job

Necropost ftl..

It's probably outdated. Starcraft 2 was released 12 days ago. This post was in beta times.

Even so would be nice to get my hands on, as long as I could place the original protoss and this. (Alows me to create Khalai protoss and the nerazim protoss and they actually seem different.)

How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
