strange problem

Today i was playing diablo 1 and my cd drive stopped working. THis is the second time this happened. Then when i restart my comp the cd drive works again. I take the diablo 1 cd..and it is unusally hot. Is my cd drive over heating? This never happens when im playing diablo 2 , by the way.
 
Diablo 1 is entirely run from the cd, whereas D2 only accesses it at start for verification, and also for the music, unless you're using the expansion, then it's only the act 5 music. You might be able to lessen the strain on the cd-drive by copying the diabdat.mpq file over to your hard-drive, but if I recall it'll default to looking on the cd for the 600 meg mpq.

Is it possible for my cd-drive to get damaged from this?
 
I doubt your CD drive will be damaged.

Since it contains moving parts, it will eventually break down but it will be obsolete by then :)

Then again.... stuff happens.
 
Yeah, I doubt the cd-drive would get damaged, I wouldn't be surprised if it made you some nice D1 coasters though.

    this is the fix I get from that yeah this is hard to control. disabling bots is pretty much necessary as ai and other bots would push really old threads to the top. reduce weight of view count. disable guest view tracking if you really want to push active threads to the top. a bit of tinkering for a few days with the weights and other settings should get you a decent trending widget box.

    One thing I have noticed and I dont know if it is by design but like 1 out of 3 times I come to the site the Anubis screen just hangs open, if I refresh it will go away but sometimes it hangs

    Wow - the change in the stats are major. I kind of knew it was all bots but wow, to see the effect. Why the social media sites cant do something like this I have no idea.

    Yeah google does not filter those bots. I remember when Apex was doing Google ads I saw the same IPs in there as I was seeing here - google is totally tracking all those bots as traffic and most google traffic, at least ours, was all bots
