i need serious help! i havent had this much trouble out of my computer. everytime i boot up, it says:
Windows protection error. Youneed to restart your computer. System halted.
I tried changing cmos settings back to default, that worked once, then screwd up again, i tried safemode, that works 20% of the time. i tried step by step confirmation, that didnt go over well..... i dont know what to do.
this is what happened. I built this computer myself....it has a 1800xp soyo mb, it kept saying 1150mhz at POST so, i opened it up and moved the jumpers from 200 mhz bus speed to 266, then the clock speed from manual setup to auto (thats what the manual said the jumpers were) boom, i start it back up, its on 266 mhz bus speed and it recognized the processor as an xp 1800+, it started up in safe mode, i restarted and it gave me that freakin error message, i tried to put all the jumpers back to default, didnt work. i talked to a friend, he said it was messing with my IRQ's, but i cant change them from cmos, or DOS using a start up disk. i forgot how to revert back to and old registry file with DOS commands, any one know?
