A supply teacher has been told not to return to one primary school after she told a class of seven-year-olds that Santa Claus did not exist.

Children at Blackshaw Lane Primary School in Oldham were talking about Christmas when the teacher came out with the news.

Father Christmas was not responsible for delivering their presents on Christmas Eve, the pupils were taught. The teacher, who had been drafted in for just the day, has now been told not to come back.

Parents complained to the school after their children returned home to recount what they had learnt in lessons that day.

Yeah but it gives kids some imagination. Or something.

They will now no longer watch movies that include Santa Claus so a lot of movies will not sell! ... :D

Ha:
Tell children that their presents come from those who love them and care about them: that's magic enough. There is no Santa in the Spanish tradition, just family love, not lies about something which doesn't exist. Stop lying to children
From a comment from the article, haha.

Why don't teachers get in trouble for telling their students that God doesn't exist? I guess it must be a lie because you can only get in trouble if you tell your students the truth.

Hehe, no. I'm not serious. It's just a thought.

From an anti-christ's view: Now the parents can't control the children the same way bible is used to control christians.

Just a thought that popped up in my mind, Marilyn Manson said something like that in his biography :p

I don't know about other kids, but the "fun part" was me getting presents. Santa only makes children believe that there is something "magical" in the world. If they are big believers in santa, and they find out hes not real later, i think they're gona have a hard time dealing with it, so why not just say that Christmas is a time for getting and giving gifts, there doesn't have to be some old guy putting the presents, to make it a good holiday. All the children care for are the presents.

Because Santa is just a tool parents use to make sure they are good for a while. ;)

wow, when i was in first grade my teacher told us santa, easter bunny, and tooth fairy was fake and proved it to us. wish she would have gotten fired, i basically got ripped off lots of quarters, bunch of candy, and a bunch of extra presents my whole childhood.

People like to believe. You'll find that adults live with much bigger lies..

You guys are harsh.

Santa, for kids, is something to look forward to. To believe that there was someone who was "making" toys for you for being good over the year, and was going to bring them to you with his magic sled and what not. Little kids learn by imagination. Even if it sparks just an ounce of happy in the kid, it did its job. My parents buy me gifts all the time, why should the Christmas gifts be any more special? Because they were from Santa!

Just think from a kids prospective guys, just because you grew up, don't forget all the awesome stuff you did as a kid...
and now a days, yes, all kids want are the gifts. Why? Because everyone is greedy as hell now, and no one appreciates the family time thats involved with Christmas.

Mrs Roberston wrote that what the teacher had done “would be like telling someone religious that God doesn’t exist”.

lmfao, so is she saying santa comparable to god or that god is an adult's santa?

Yeah I don't give a damn about Christmas for this reason. Gift's are just expected so they lose all meaning... I feel the holiday is completely pushed by the consumer's market to spend otherwise you obviously don't love anyone, which isn't what it should be about.

Yeah, now a days I don't really get many presents because I don't really ask for much, and most of them I'm already aware I'm getting, so it's all about family time. And when I was younger, we didn't have much money, so the one small gift I got that was from santa made my day better. It's just something to look forward to, really.

I guess it's because none of us wanted to grow up. The truth hurt, and I believed in Santa stubbornly for a while. My imagination kept popping up excuses despite my parents claims that Santa is a made up character.

How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
