A former school pupil dressed up as 'Batman' character 'The Joker 'and set fire to the building causing more than €1m worth of damage, a court heard yesterday.

Christopher Clancy (19) of Cherrywood Grove, Clondalkin, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to arson at Colaiste Chillian on the Old Nangor Road on May 10, 2009.

Clancy, who will be sentenced later, told gardai when he was arrested at the scene that he burnt the school down "because it is run by hypocrites and I didn't like the way they treated my friends".

Garda Liam Ganny told the court that Clancy, who had left the school the previous November, filled six large jerry cans with petrol and cut his way through a wire-mesh fence to access the school grounds.

He smashed in a glass door and proceeded to spill the contents of one can along the corridor. He then lit the petrol and escaped from the school.

Hmm Style to set fire on a building? Maybe we should give a reward also?

Don't give me that.
There are things, that are tasteless, like Chainsaw Rampages and other like these arn't. I'm just saying, that it's interesting to why he dressed up as Joker, nothing more.
If you wanna give him an award for being a firefly, go ahead, I don't care. Because I don't see what setting things on fire has to do with Style. Or, are you implying that setting things on fire iis a form of Art?

Why so serious?

He did the right thing. Schools should take in teacher's personalities too.

He did the right thing?! Could've left thousands of kids without a school to go to? Just because he doesn't like how he and his friends were treated??? What's next? If he had gotten free, we'd be seeing "Guy burns office building because he didn't like how he and his co-workers were being treated". It's called life, deal with it.

No. He didn't. If he wanted to bring this matter to attention, he should have confronted the board of education, not cause over 2 million dollars in destruction.

Edit: esb, we don't have to be so harsh on him :p

(Okay, fine. Maybe two approaches is good :D)

You're right, they're plenty of good teachers to counter the bad ones. So his real goal should have been to burn the ones he disliked, causing less damage and also creating an oppurtunity to replace them with either nice or garbage teachers.

@YourFace: No, teachers (and usually people) dont' mistreat nor dislike someone just because they're assholes. Some do, but i'm pretty sure teachers don't. I'm sure this guy gave them MANY reasons to not like him. And if his friends are like he is, than no wonder. Instead of burning shit here and there, he should change his personality and attitude. He seems weak-minded. And your sarcasm isn't great.

ok. that top video. was fricken awesome. And joker sounds so familiar, he sounds like a person that ive heard before but the person ive heard before actually talks like that. i cant remember where.

Anyway... >.>..
I think the joker thing was going a bit too far, but so was setting the school on fire.

Why are you all so uptight about this? I've seen you guys make jokes about the most morbid things. It's more fun that way.

Also, while I in no way condone the kid's actions, I admire him for his guts. Breaking into your school looking like The Joker while carrying half a dozen jerry cans? Paints a pretty cool picture in my head.

I hate his motivation though. Didn't like the way they treated his friends? Pfft.

Now the only thing missing from this news article is someone dressed up as batman and the puzzles.

They are pretty much disposable. I have shitty nozzles though, and I don't think these were designed for how hot I've run them
  • Varine Varine:
I tried to extract it but the thing is pretty stuck. Idk what else I can use this for
  • Varine Varine:
I'll throw it into my scrap stuff box, I'm sure can be used for something
  • Varine Varine:
I have spare parts for like, everything BUT that block lol. Oh well, I'll print this shit next week I guess. Hopefully it fits
  • Varine Varine:
I see that, despite your insistence to the contrary, we are becoming a recipe website
  • Varine Varine:
    Which is unique I guess.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Actually I was just playing with having some kind of mention of the food forum and recipes on the main page to test and see if it would engage some of those people to post something. It is just weird to get so much traffic and no engagement
  • The Helper The Helper:
So what it really is me trying to implement some kind of better site navigation not change the whole theme of the site
  • Varine Varine:
How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air
