For me it was between 1 and 15. I decided to go with 15 because it seemed to fit the summer bill.

It was the concept scene I was going to do for this - I composed the scene in maya to see what parts I'd need for the building.

Was a poor angle of it - it turned out a lot worse than I predicted it would be (of course, the background/closeup terrain, many textures were to be redone. I was going to add trash, grass, leaves, a light source on the building, and redo the building but never got the chance)

A hard to read pool sign I made in photoshop - the top part was the front, the part below it (smaller square) was the back "The white stuff isn't paint ;-)" and the very bottom is for the edges.

Voted for #1;

1. Great atmosphere, only thing I dislike is the size of the helicopters.
2. Nice idea but doesnt have that wow!-effect.
3. Standard wc3 view is a killer.
4. I like it but still I've got the feeling there is something missing. You've got too much open space on the foreground to not have anything there, also a tower or structure in the background would have been nice.
5. It's rather empty and you can see the water ending - not good. also the transition of the grass to sand is too abrupt.
6. This has alot of potential, for example i really like the tower on the right. But the obelisk spam and the standard dalaran tower ruins it. The obelisks lack detail, especially the big one, and the line of columns also need some variation.
7. My second choice, i love the warm feeling it has - it reall transfers the heat air and refreshing water. But the sudden change of trees is a bit weird and it also could use that extra something (cant explain what).
8. Simple, but i like it. Trees line could be a little streched though.
9. Nice work, but i'm missing the eye-catcher. Though i do like the shell spam.
10. Too plain for a vote. It's nice but nothing spectacular.
11. Same as above.
12. Great detail in this one, loving the reflection on the water and the trees beneath the bridge. But it lacks some amazing fog or something that draws your attention.
13. The idea is good but the execution is bad. This needs much work on all facets - camera angle, fog, terrain detail, tile variation.
14. Too simple, nothing that makes it stand out and get a vote.
15. I really like it, though its too bad the quality of the picture is kinda bad, so you cant see much detail on the castle in the back.

ps: i just checked the original thread to see the theme was summer - if you want people voting based on that you should probably mention it in this thread as well.

I'll just list the things I didn't like about the top 3 as of now:

• i can't find anything wrong with it, it is really nice

• a gas green-orange sky... i really dislike the background
• massive blob of light for a sun that eats into the trees
• the fog seems useless in this terrain
• the foreground is boring

• the sun just looks like another cloud but circular (white sun)

all of these three fit the summer theme nicely though and anyone that says otherwise is being biased

2. Too dark and sad.
3. Looks neat, but not the one I vote for.
4. I like this one most.
5. Too empty, summer tough.
6. Very nice, but others are better.
7. Again, too empty, more bushes, scrubs and flowers should be placed.

9. He/she ended up with a too empty screenshot.

11. I like epic better, else very cool.

13. A little weird, but that's my taste.
14. No fog and a little bit too empty.

I am still working out which one to vote for.

At the moment it's between #1 and #12. 1 has great light and fog effects and I love summer showers (I am used to them in England ) and 12 has that amazing sunlight reflection in the water.

EDIT: Chose #1. I felt that the trees on the cliff were not right on #12.

I really liked #13 because of the original theme: a kid committing suicide and another one crying after him. Perhaps not quite the most suitable theme for a contest entry, though? ^_^

I don't know why so many people like #4 though, it's really bland and the sun is poorly made imo.
