TerranMarine Sound set

ok the standard unit marine has the sound set TerranMarine, but if you go add that to some oether unit, or even to change the marines, it can not be found

now i just created a marine unit for my AOS and want to use that sound set...but how is the question....anyone got any ideas?

the terrin is a unit, so if you wanted a hero then you would... WAIT, starship troopers has terren as a hero, ill look at that O_O

There is a very simple way to do this. First go to the actual Marine unit (under Neutral Passive, and then campaign). Then, go to his sound set which should say TerranMarine. If it does not, right click it and go to "Reset Selected Field to Default", which will change any sound set the unit currently has to the TerranMarine. Then, while the field is highlighted hold control (ctrl) and press c. This basicly copies the field. Now, go to the unit or hero that you want to have the soundset of TerranMarine and click on their current soundset. While it's highlighted hold control (ctrl) and press v. This will paste the sound set there. Wallah! You now have the TerranMarine sound set on your unit!

EDIT: I don't get it, why do you want this soundset? It sounds like nothing to me..

Marines don't talk. TerranMarine is a different way of saying "None".

i hadnt listened to it, i jsut figured it was for a terran guy, cuz i jsut made a terran hero, and the gunner voice dont go real good

any ideas of wehat sound set i should use for em, or any palce i can dl a terran sound set maybe...?

I dont use a sound at all, they have the death and shoot sound already... what else does a marine need! other than "Jacked up and good to go!" Thats the marine right

yea, i suppose, i would still like hi m to say a few things, and gunner dont really go, sound like a dwarf which the marine deff. isnt

I was thinking if it's possible to extract the sounds from StarCraft with some MPQ editor and then add it to the WorldEditor... It would be perfect

I'm positive you can extract the sounds from Starcraft. I have for some of my starcraft maps; I created a couple of maps back then. Arsenal III was some nifty stuff too, until patch 1.10 broke it. Anyways...
The only problem is that they are all .wav files, meaning that they are big. So, you will need to convert them to .mp3 or something. I believe that they are smaller. I will figure it out, and then tell you how to extract the files.

Aight, its a cakewalk folks. Here's what you do. Go to http://www.starcraft.org/downloads/utilities/soundutilities/Brood War Sound Utility , and download the Brood War Sound Extractor. You will need Starcraft: Brood Wars installed on your computer to do this. Now, extract the files into a folder and run them. You will now have all of the sounds in a folder on your computer in your starcraft folder. It will take up about 100 megs of space...but hey! Now you can get the marine sounds, ghost sounds, firebat sounds, zergling sounds, and whatnot! And really, 100 Mbs of space was a lot back in the day of Starcraft...but now with the massive hard drives, and even the terabyte hard drives that have been coming out, 100 Mb isn't that much anymore. Enjoy!

Oh, and in all reality, I'm very surprised that I haven't seen any maps with the Starcraft or Warcraft 2 sounds yet. But then again, I'm back from the days of Warcraft 1, The Dark Heart of Uukrul, Quest for Glory, Lemmings, and the original Nintendo, and I've talked to plenty who don't even know about anything before the Nintendo 64 for gaming consoles. How times change...

My suggestion would be this: Buy the game. Trust me, Starcraft is a game full of fun, and you can buy the Starcraft Battle Chest for about 20 USD at any gaming store. Buying the game would give you essentially a permanent access card to any of the sounds in the game, as well. If you can't find it anywhere, or you're unlucky and live out in a farming community in the middle of the boonies like my friend does half the year and therefore can't find civilization anywhere, there are always websites such as Amazon and Ebay to purchase the game from. Fortunately, even the Rural Route Box# xxx gets mail still.

If the 20 USD is way over your head for whatever reason, then give up a few beers next weekend, take the bus a couple of times, buy the offbrands for a week or two, or merely save it up. You'll find an extra 20 in your pocket in no time.

ill restate my question...how can I open the mpq without the game?

You can't. It's like opening a text file without the text file, or opening a box without a box. It just doesn't work.

Thus, my suggestion above. Besides, I'm not sure which MPQ file the stuff is stored in, and Starcraft itself was required to use the sound extractor, not just an mpq.
