Discussion Textmacro's

Just to get a discussion going on in here, I wanted to know when you guys like to use text macros, why you use them, and what other good they're for.

Functional decomposition whilst avoiding overheads induced through function calls within potentially intensive operations.

To be completely honest, I hate textmacros. They're ugly, and make code confusing. The only reason I would write my own textmacro (which I have only done a few times) is to save a large amount of time and redundant code.

I supposed I would like them more if Vexorian would actually give them decent looking syntax, but he hasn't. I do like modules, as they look nice, and work well. Textmacros on the other hand just seem like a non-feature with huge potential for abuse.

General 'pick a random feature and talk' isn't what 'Discussion' tags were made for.
They were introduced so that once there were enough tagged threads, they would be moved to a separate Discussion sub-forum, and the tags would be removed.

Things such as bug discoveries, benchmarks and tips are included there (heck, everything that isn't a help thread, really).
