TFT: Does Agility really increase attack speed for heroes?

I'm making a map where attack speed is somewhat vital. After looking (and attempting to redefine) attack cooldown time bonus in the Game Constants, I couldn't find anything relating it to Agility.

So I'm just wondering: does Hero Agility really increase attack speed? and if so, how much?

okay, I just tested it, and agility does make attack speed faster; I'm not sure exactly how much. It seems that every 100 points of agility decreases cooldown time by slightly more than half.

According to http://www.battle.net/war3/basics/heroes.shtml (near bottom)

1 point of agility = 2% increase in attack rate (so yes your estimate was close... 100 points would give about 50% shorter cooldown)

It affects armor too.

yeah, that's why I was wondering in the first place if agility did do anything to attack speed. I thought it was like some crazy hero conspiracy thing, lol

In the beta, agility used to affect armor and movement speed. But the movement speed got a little crazy so they changed it to attack speed.

Maybe when they made the change, they were in a rush so they did a 'hack job' and didn't put in a constant for it.

yeah, I think you're right. In the Game Constants, there is no attack speed increase per agility point, but there is a "Hero Attribute - Movement Bonus Per Agility Point" field, defaulted at zero.

beta = war3 beta right?

i would have imagined that they might have re-examined that part of the code at least for tft and "un-hard-coded" the attack speed increase, but i guess they didn't.

the argument for the other side, of course, is that they aren't obligated to make any improvements whatsoever to the editor, or even release an editor for that matter.

although the argument for that case is that war3 would be totally dead if it wasn't for the map-making community, and so blizz needed to release and improve the editor if they had any chance in heck of maintaining the game's popularity (and thereby increasing sales).

They likely had constants for everything in the game at first, but one night at 3:30am the programmers were in a rush to finish a beta patch so they just hardcoded the value right in.

It was probably just overlooked... once it worked they never bothered to worry about it again. They probably never realized that these constants are manipulated by the World Editor. (Different people working on different things.)

Then again I'm just guessing.

i still haven't gotten into melee yet on TFT, i personally find mapping much better.

and i'm not playing dota btw. the only reason its popular is because it was the first map to do custom spells well - timing was the key to its success.

and unfortunately, eul has now become so obsessed with making dota 2 perfect, his behaviour on forums has become a little peculiar.

e.g.
Eul: "how do i do [x]?"
Someone else: "try this: [y]"
Eul: "no i dont want to do that, anyone else got any ideas?
Someone else: "try this: [z]"
Eul: "no i dont want to do that either."

repeat for as long as u like........

trust me when i say that i am not alone in thinking eul is an odd character.

LOL. I play Dota because whenever I bother to dl a different AoS, like Tides of Blood, recently, it feels amateurish and goofy. I go right back to DotA.

Elil released an awesome one, with a Paul Bunyan character, and loads of other folklore dudes. That owned, but I only got to play once. There was one major diffrence from dota: you repicked a hero whenever you died. It was really surreal, and I guess people just didn't like it enough.

i've never even seen tides of blood yet, i probably should see if i can download it somewhere.

expect Elil's maps to be quite professional, since Elil has decent education to back him up on his map-making (he does a lot of study to do with making interfaces as easy as possible for people to use). He's currently making vale of nightmares, so keep an eye out for that.

keys of sealing I hear is a good map, it combines AoS with capture the flag style gameplay. i haven't had a chance to play this one either unfortunately.

on the TD side of things, pandaria's TD and magic the gathering TD are the two best maps going around at the moment.

all footie wars maps suck, since they lag like heck, and are so imbalanced and the gameplay is totally shot. I'm looking to try and rectify all these problems with the footie wars map I'm working on atm. And it's not going to be called footie wars, which is a good start.......

I've never been able to DL M:tG TD, and its a real headache for me, as a former card-flapper. People are absolutely rabid about not letting anyone dl, and since it's only 5-6 people (right?) their usually not deperate.

Hmm. I was gonna let it slide, but if it's really one of the best out there now...could you mail it to me, or point me to a d/l site?
