the firewall thing.

i have a firewall, which does prevent me from hosting, howeveri i visited the ttorials site for information on how to host with a firewall. it told me how to host with my firewall running, but all i really want to do is turn my firewall off.

if i turn off my firewall, will it let me host?

so basically: how do i turn off my firewall, and if i do so, will it allow to host games on battle. net?

Go to Run->cmd and in the command prompt, type "ipconfig/all". It will show a few lines, and look for your IP address. There, type that number into your web browser, and it should take you too your router's web-based administration system. Look for something called "Firewall" and click it. Then it will give you an option to turn it off. Turn it off, then save your changes.

ok, ive clicked: Start, Run, then in the small window that poped up i typed cmd, clicked ok, then it brought up a small black window with a few short lines like you said, but i cant find anything that looks like an IP adress, is there a simpler way to find my IP adress?

No, go to Run-> and type cmd. A black window will pop up, and in THAT box, type in "ipconfig/all". A few lines should pop up and look through them for IP address.

Type in "ipconfig" it will be more easy to find your browsers ip this way

hm. ok ive run into anouther problem. when i typ my IP adress into my browser, it takes me to this url:

and thats.....not my control window. =( lol. what am i doin wrong?

Ok, then that means you have to type this in the Browser:

192.168.2.1

it still doesnt work. am i typing it in the wrong place? the place im typing it is the place you would normally typ it if you wanted to visit i website like www.google.com or something.

um, ok when i typ in that IP, a window pops up with user name and password.

and my router.. um. i dont know exactly what ya mean by that cuz im not like.. computer expert, but i have a dell computer, and i get internet connectoin through a little entenna thingy.

Leave password blank and for username, either try leaving it blank or putting in your username for your computer.

"admin" as username
and
"password" as password

if that works i think you have a Netgear router and if you have i can help you to open the ports needed to host wc3 games.

ok that doesnt work... and.. i didnt even know i had a password... or anything like that... admin and password doesnt work either.

Ok, first we need to know your router's number and type. You have a box where all your internet cords are connected to for each computer, and it shoulkd have a name on it. For example, mine's a Belkin becuase it sais Belkinon the box. The number is something like 2983e-23989, a weird number like that. The number should be on the sticker where it has other information. Tell us the name and the number.

admin and admin dont work either. i dont know what my password is. i know my username is JD (my initials) but i never knew there was a pass word. if i can just figure out the damn password!
