Do you get an error message?
    Are you behind a router?
Any chance your ISP is blocking IRC?

    I think you should:

    1. Click start.
    2. Click Run
    3. Type in cmd
    4. Input "ipconfig /all" without the quotes.
    5. Try using the Dynamic IP instead of your static IP.

If you don't have Dynamic IP, then you should try this site: hidemyass.com.

It gives away free proxy IPs for those who had themselves blocked by routers.

the problem is not the router the problem is the Zone Alarm which contains a Firewall that blocks the chat and if i close the whole Zone Alarm i can get in (btw it's like a desert in there....)
anyway nvm i will just close my Zone alarm everytime i want to get in anyway thanks for trying

    Try this:
    -open up ZoneAlarm
-select Firewall on the left, should be the second item from top
-select the Expert tab (top right corner)
-press Add (should be in the bottom right corner)
-give it a name, "TH IRC" or whatever
-make sure State is Enabled, Action is Allow and Track should be None
-press Modify in the Destination part, top right
    -pick Add Location->Host/Site
-give it some description and type irc.thehelper.net in the Host name part, then press OK
-press OK and then Apply in the lower right corner

Well, the final alternative would be to read the fine manual:
    1. Open Zone Alarm.
    2. Click IM Security.
    3. Click the Advanced button.
    4. Unclick the Block IRC check box.

Just type in: /msg NickServ teh_kraken

Then once it logs you in, type in: /identify <your password>

It is done automatically by the server. You don't need to type in a site.

EDIT: Wait a minute, what is your motive? Logging on, or doing something else?

There's this note at the bottom of the chat page:
" Use of the chat requires a minimum of 25 reputation points. "

Maybe slightly less would work out too? To be considered.

Excuse my stupidy, however I tried to connect to the chat I get: "Unable to connect : java.security.AccessControlException : access denied (java.net.SocketPermission irc.thehelper.net resolve)"

I re-read the tutorial, searched the forum and double-checked that I have Java's latest edition. I tried refreshing the page and restarting the browser but it didn't help. I have 10 reputation points so that shouldn't be a problem. An answered would be appreciated, thanks. :)

You didn't trust the Java crapplet or some security application on your computer prevents the crapplet from doing its business.

It is trusted. I tried disabling the Firewall, no help. Any other applications that could cause this?

What enouwee said. Try using a different browser or a chat client. You don't have to use the Crapplet to access the chat it is just the easiest way.

Under normal conditions, there's a popup that asks when the crapplet is ready to run... and you reply with "yes, I know what I'm doing".
The other option would be a personal firewall, but there we would need to know which one.

Got an error when trying to open it:

    Code:
Startup error : java.lang.Exception: Mandatory 'host' parameter not provided
    Fixes?

1 fix would be to not use the crapplet and use something like ChatZilla (if you use Firefox) or find another irc chat console. Just use the address irc.thehelper.net.
