The lack of custom games played

Why is it on both Frozen throne and RoC, you get the same maps over and over again. People don't want to try new maps, and just play dota or footmen. Granted there is a lot of maps that really need gameplay tuning or some objective feedback to improve which gives new maps a bad reputation but you can't find a good new map by playing the same games over and over again.

And if they do they would probally leave the first 5 mins because they don't know how to play.

Or atleast thats what most of the people on battle.net do.

Yeah. People need to learn to be open to types of games.

I'm making a series of Vampire Hunters like a campaign. Wait... bad example.

Very true, and I think the battle.net system encourages it. There should be some way of incenting players to try new maps, or to be able to highlight maps that are new and good. Like imagine, with every new map there was an ability to rate them, so people oculd look along all the maps seeing the ratings. A 5 star one new map would attract new people.

On your averge rating from 1 to 5,
5 means I like it
1 means I don't like it.

Or, the other way around, if I think it should be 3,
but there's already a 5,
I vote 1, so it averages out on 3...


Anyway, you can't rate what you haven't seen...

Maybe the system could work by giving past players of X map rate it 1-5 at the end of the game, everytime someone voted they would average it.
I don't think it can be abused because an abuser would have to endure the loading and the wait of the host starting the game..

I totally agree... seriously DOTA is kinda stupid, its not that fun, and it doesn't have much expandability. I like games like NOTD2 and DOTD4 where u can actually get save codes and reload ur guys with ur past experience. more games should have that rpg style format.

hack the dota website, create a dota 3.00 and make it crash ur comp every time u tried to play, then delete all othe version on that website that should put an end to the evil spreading through the wc3 custom game lands @.@

Whoa.... I must admit to playing DotA, but generally because I play it with a friend. And every now and then something fun happens. Yeah, there is a lot of bs imbalances, and certain heros (ahem *Skeleton King, New Heros) tend to be used a bit too frequently, ruining games when you want to try a strat with a particular hero. And why is it almost every new hero is horribly imbalanced? They really should have an option in the game called DN = Disable New (Hero)

Rant over, I once tried a new map. It was battleships. Was fun for a while until so many copies and edits flooded BNET. Save Codes? Thats interesting. Haven't played one of those, primarily because of the time-honored system of booting people who download. And if the map isn't hosted frequently...
