I dont even know what its called, but it stole the chorus from "Breakfast in America" - Supertramp. They butchered that song, those bunch of fags. It is such a great song, but it just won't be the same any more after this monstrosity slaughtered it.

Try a 10+ min Hip-Hop song without boring me out.

Yes, Rap/R&B can be good, but comparing old-school rap to old-school rock, there is still no comparison. It is very tough to write a long song without getting boring. You'll be literally forced to change the tone at one point in the song; otherwise it gets bland very fast. So far I have not heard one single Hip-hop song that changes the vocals nor music tone some point in the song.

I love how the guitar blends with the cosmic base line in that song. Also that is my favourite Rush song, because (sorry Rush fans), I cannot stand Ghetti Lee's (Sorry if I slaughtered his name) voice. He screeches like a siren.

I DO like Rammstein. They're a solid group, but sometimes they anoy me because all their music sorta sounds the same. I think they're more of a Death Metal group, but I don't know what genre they call themselves.

They should. It depends on the amount of measures they take. I forget exact details, but if they use the theme, I'm pretty sure someone has to pay royalties somewhare. i'm not completly sure, though. I feel your pain about rap/hiphop. I really don't like how rap is really easy to loop. Pop music is now performed by a 30 yr old, 200 lb. (yes I'm stereotyping) guy sitting in front of a mixing board creating sound loops. If you see rappers/hip hoppers (?), they don't have a band!

Rap is about the lyrics. It is a very racial and ethnic music, actually. It's IS quite hard to compare two different almost completly different types of music. It might be easier to compare Prog with Orchestral works, since both have more similarities than Rap and Prog. Rap is not all that rythimicly challenging, actually. Most of them have a very simple beat (we all know that) and the rapper usually raps in quarter-note, triplet, or sixteenth note rythems. If you wrote out the rythem, it would be quite simple.

P.S. Prog rock has really good and harmonical instrumental music.

Depends on what group. Each group has a is different style. My personal favorite (which I said plenty of times before) is Dream Theater. Mostly because they're all well known and extremly artistic musicians. They can play in various styles too, so they're mosic veries from piece to piece. I sorta like to compare them with Opras, because they're albums often tell stories.

Ya sorry, I dont really even know exactly what Hip Hop was. I didn't know if like 50 cent or Tupac counted as rap or hip hop. Because sometimes you see "genre: rap/hip hop" :S

Dream Theater has several songs that last 15+ minutes. everything they do is amazing! Sorry, but check their profiles.

Why do I like Prog more than Rap? It's because its more musically complicated, and I don't like to dance (rap is more of a dance music as well). If something dosn't change tempo, key, or style, or is repetitive, I think it's pretty boring.

Wrong. They are different genres, but just with a lot of similarities. The music teacher told that and she was basing upon a musical dictionary or something like that.

And, Duwenbasden, I am a rap listener. I can't listen to a 10 mins rock song without getting bored. The same, you can't listen to a 10 mins rap song without getting bored. Just because you don't like the genre...

So? The music kicks ass... I dont care for the lyrics I hate country because of it, and especially rap considering they make up their own words to rhyme

They're each tougher in different ways. Raping is tough to do and takes time to practice and learn. Lyrics in rap take longer to write. If you notice, most rock songs are kind of repetitive in their lyrics while rap songs lyrics take pages.
However you don't have to know how to play an instrument in rap. In rock, you need to write a whole songs music then the lyrics while in rap you have someone mix it for you. Also you need multiple people who can actually play instruments and one who can sing.
I would say that they are equally difficult but I voted for rap because its normally better
