The Sleeper Awakes…

Almost a year ago, my depression was born. I began to worry about myself, about the society, and about my entire life.

For months, I wrestled with my sorrow and grief.

I tried to analyse every moment of my life, to convince myself, in this matter, that my life was not as dark as I imagined.

Unfortunatly, the more I worried and philosophised about the society and my life, the more I realised that my vision about life was clearly realistic.

Winter passed, and my depression became better. My depression was temporarily, partially anaesthetised.
Unfortunatly, I knew my depression would most probably awake again in fall, since my vision about life was still the same.

Then, a number of events affected my slumbering depression in a negative way. They are rather irrelevant, so I will not mention them here.

My depression is no longer anaesthetised by the sun, which emits Vitamine D, which is essential for the production of serotonine.

Sigh.

Those two reactions indicate enough; I'm not only eccentric and abnormal, but also not well in the head. In other words: Disturbed.

I thought it would be helpfull to discuss about my depression.

Food for Thought

Everyone has there sufferings mind.

For example, I work at a job, and have worked here for 7 years, and don't even enjoy what I do anymore. The only reason I stay is because they throw crazy ammounts of money at me. I think about it all the time. But hey. A lot of people trade happiness for money & living status. Some more than others.

I also hang out with more women than I can handle. Yet I can't stand any one of them. Hell, I don't even like half of them. I'd trade em all for a woman more on my level, that I can feel 'giddy' about. But again, thats how it goes.

Just remember, if everything was perfect, and people wern't dissapointed in things that happen in their lives, we wouldn't go to the bars and clubs, and have a great time. We wouldn't go on vacations or get burnt out. Kinda like that Walgreens commerical.

Man, I hate that commercial.

I got divorced over a year ago and when me and my ex split up I entered a serious depression that lasted over a year. I drank my ever loving butt off, I went to topless bars, I sat alone at my house and felt sorry for myself. The only thing that helped was time.

My advice would be to get therapy. I did it for about 3 months and though it did not fix me, it sure helped. My depression was called situational depression though so it might not be the same thing as you.

You might also want to consider getting on some meds. My ex girlfriend was depressed for her whole life - then she got on Prozac. It changed her life. Your mileage may very. Good Luck!

Agreed. I still miss my ex and the baby after 8 months. And I hate her just as equally. I can't fix all the horrible things that happened, its out of my hands now. I see her a lot in stores and clubs, which makes it hard.

Some days are hard, some arn't. Wellbutrin goes a long way. I still somewhat feel like I have to drink to have a good time & fit in socially.

The Helper, I use something far better then ordinary medication: Omega-3 fatty acids, or Bioléine.

Bioléine is a natural antidepressant. It has only beneficial effects; It makes the neurapses, the seperations between two neurons or brain cells wider, which allows information to fit through easier. The benefical effects are, that you can concentrate easier and worry less.

I don't have too much advice to offer, since I haven't had lows like some others in this thread. I just thought I would post anyway, to indicate I did read what you said.

It's tough to build self-esteem, I guess I did suffer a little bit over the years because of my small physical stature. Doing weight training is helping a whole lot though for 2 reasons:

1) It makes me bigger, which makes me feel good about myself

2) At the gym I meet a whole lot of nice people and make some good friends

I think it is number 2) you should think about the most, I'm guessing you might have a hard time forming good friendships. So it is important that you do more things which have you in the company of others, doing something that you (and they) like doing. If you can find a cycling club in your area, then I strongly suggest you join up, you are likely to make some good friends there :)

edit: I deleted the idiotic posts for you.

Perhaps I should explain exactly why I feel depressed. We can't discuss about sorrow and depression if only I know the cause.

I worry about my - or, more accurately: our - limited freedom. Just as Nietsche the philosopher said: The society is a prison. We're forced to relive the same, painfull routine every day.

I worry about my inferiority. I feel abnormal, eccentric, and, as I said, almost disturbed; I can't shake the unnerving feeling that every thought I think is bizarre.

I worry about the fact that I enjoy nearly nothing I do in my leisure. Some moments of my leisure are even painfull.

I worry about my environment: Flanders is a very densely populated place. As a result, the majority of the environment is abominable.

I worry about the almost terrrorizing sounds and the hectic traffic in the city.

Finally, I worry about the fact that my life has absolutely no goal or destination; life is an almost endlessly repeating circle.

That sounds like anxiety. Worry worry worry. I'm no doctor, but thats how I'd call it.

Whadda ya mean no goals? The whole point is to make our OWN goals. Thats the whole point of free will. You can even have small goals before the big goals.

I'd like to buy a condo sometime soon
And I want to get a nicer car next time
And I'd like to be the baddest fighter I know
And I'd like to go back to school
I'd like as much booty as I can but,
I'd also like to have a family someday with
A supportive, good hearted wife but,
And maybe have a couple kids
and I'd like to see Europe a little

I've got a lotta work to do, eh? See what I mean....what do you WANT to do man?

The real problem with your inferiority complex here is that you are not good at something. Self-esteem and all things similiar to that will all come with becoming really good at something. The better you are the more confident you'll be. Believe me it's entirely true. However, whatever skill you pick it'll have to be something you can show others.

And not to rain on your parade, but this forum appears to be a Warcraft III Editor Help Forum. Given, this site IS called 'the helper', however, in truth it's not a Kid's Help Phone.

You haven't been around long enough to see this forum morph into a community forum. Lots of different things are discussed here, and I don't necessarily mind it. As long as it stays in its own thread, and it doesn't cause clutter then it's fine.

The problem, Nogusta, is not that I don't have talents, but that I have a lot of negative properties.

I have no goal that can be achieved, except finishing this foolish LoaP of mine.

That goal is nearly achieved. Making maps again did make me feel somewhat better, but once my map is complete, I feel depressed again.

Certainly when no-one appreciates my map.

Perhaps I'm just too pessimistic. A number of events recently also affected my depression in a positive way…

Today I had to scramble, I didn't work most of dinner service and no one told me shit. They had a rough few hours lol
  • Varine Varine:
I have two salmon, Sockeye and Atlantic. Atlantic is used for the kids salmon and the salmon and beet salad, and can also be added onto any dish or just as a side. Atlantic salmon will almost exclusively ever be FARMED, as it is endangered in the wild, and we ALWAYS cut them to 4 ounces.
  • Varine Varine:
SOCKEYE salmon, very different and this IS wild caught. We have an ENTREE version, and an add on version. The entree is 7 ounces, the add on is 4. Why? Because that is how someone that wasn't me set up the computer.
  • Varine Varine:
I had to have this conversation like ten fucking times tonight
  • Varine Varine:
The issue being, I came into work and had none of this whatsoever
  • Varine Varine:
    No one told me shit
  • Varine Varine:
So, taking into consideration that what I typed out up there is kind of some fucking nonsense that under normal circumstances no one really needs to fucking be able to explain in any rational way
  • Varine Varine:
Let alone trying to figure it out from a wildly stressed out me that is also on a phone call trying to get something to show up from Seattle tomorrow while trying to explain this salmon situation, that also is barely solved in maybe a few hours and and but I am bulking it with a few steelhead filets I have and that is a WHOLE fucking different thing to the 19 year old server that got put on day shift C crew that doesn't know who I am.
  • Varine Varine:
I did however really want days. I like getting off at 4 half the time, and that makes it worth it!
  • Varine Varine:
Also I hate my job right now but I think that was the hard part. Now it's just work
  • Varine Varine:
    @jonas I'm sorry? I don't know what you're referring to.
  • Varine Varine:
Once we hit winter I feel like I get to back to having a pretty cool job. Like I bitch about it all the time, but it's work. I'm still gonna bitch
  • Varine Varine:
All in all though I think this summer is going really well. Some complicated things, but at the end of the day it isn't THAT big of a deal. Not all of our servers have quite realized they are technically sales
  • Varine Varine:
Like yeah it is a substitute, but FOMO. Chef isn't getting this again this year, he has to figure it out, so it's slightly off on the menu, but that is more or less the LOWEST quality and price. Right now, steelhead is a real stealhear, right?
  • Varine Varine:
Like fuck off even I can do it
  • Varine Varine:
I am going to get one of my servers to do that in her server voice and you'll see my point
  • Varine Varine:
Maybe the bartender. Idk, it's one of my favorite things to hear them go from calm to customer service voice. They will translate it to like "The chef is trying to change that a bit right now so he does have a Alaskan river steelhead. Yeah like the one you might fish probably!" And then the girls can bat their eyes and do pretty girl server shit
  • Varine Varine:
At least that's how imagine some of them. Did you know mayonnaise is dairy free? A suprisingly amount of people don't\
  • The Helper The Helper:
    mayo is eggs right?
  • The Helper The Helper:
Seems I never watched the Witcher - looks like i have a lot of content
  • The Helper The Helper:

  • The Helper The Helper:
