The Terrain Thread

Ofc it's empty, that's why I'm asking people what the hell I should put in it, lol. It's not even close to done yet.

Anyways, torches are kind of a no-no because I like the look it has right now, like some old, forgotten cavern that nobody has been in for centuries.

There isn't enough room for buildings and imagining it with buildings doesn't work too well. But you could try and see what you get.

Buildings? Oh, I thought that the passage is about as tall as a human lol.

You can evade those problems if you ask yourself what you want to do before you actually start to terrain. Can save a lot of time, yep. :p

Well I wanted to experiment with lighting :p

Bump! Awesome, this thread is still here! :D

Been working on recreating the Swamps of Sorrow and the Black Morass for a WC1-themed campaign (don't bother mentioning Dawn of Chaos since I already know of its existence and this project has an entirely different scope). Two images for now:

EDIT: +rep for the first person who can remind me what pitch and roll settings to use in a doodad to make it align realistically with the terrain. Values as low as 0.01 cause them to tilt far too much, but I think there's some specific value (a negative one?) that makes them even out nicely.

Wat? 0.01 is close to nothing...
The value depends on the doodads and the bumpiness of your terrain.
Generally I'd say trees are fine with something around 0.05. Smaller stuff like flowers... hm, between 0.1 and 0.3 or so.
I'd give rocks an even higher value, e.g. 0.5, helps removing the ugly flat stones on the side if you lower them on uneven terrain.

Note that the effective maximum is 1.57.

Those lights are meh. And why are some textures stretched to low resolution while others are sharper?

They are pretty similar, but this one is much less involved than a real CNC. A lot less moving parts

Also if you want mixed drinks without alcohol, there's a handful of non-alcoholic 'spirits'. Ritual Zero and Free Spirit are the two brands I've tried and they are alright. They don't have a TON of options, but they have some gin and whiskey alternatives that are fun to play with.

I got a couple bottles to make some mixy drinks around holidays when I mostly want to drink, they aren't exact replacements but they are surprisingly close.

I ended up with some hop water things that I really like instead for when I want to feel like I'm participating

I just got moved to unsupervised probation, so I can get away with drinking a bit now. I technically am not supposed to, but I don't think I get checked anymore. I really want to smoke weed but it scares me

Happy Wednesday! I am not feeling it today, my teeth are bothering me, or the fragments that were left behind are coming up and it is extra painful today. Don't ever let them tell you that getting full dental implants is easy. They have to pull all your teeth to do those and apparently they are not very good at getting all the teeth out all the time.

That is true with Dentures too. I am taking the day off and working from home. The big difference is though, I am not drinking anymore so I have a nice tea and coffee regimen set up :)
  • Varine Varine:
    I wish i had a 3D scanner
  • Varine Varine:
That would make what I'm doing SO much easier

I guess I could just take a picture of it and then use that as a reference. I have a circuit board with some weird holes I can't get measured right
  • Varine Varine:
Oh I got a Klipper mod for my big printer! It comes with a bunch of parts and I don't totally understand what it does but apparently it's way better than Marlin, which is I think what it currently runs

  • The Helper The Helper:
