The Walking Dead is an upcoming American television series created for television by Frank Darabont and based upon the comic book series of the same name created by Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore.

The Walking Dead tells the story of the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse and follows a small group of survivors traveling across the United States in search of a new home away from the hordes of zombies. The group is led by Rick Grimes, who was a police officer in the old world. As their situation grows more and more grim, the group's desperation to survive pushes them to do almost anything to stay alive.

It will premiere on the AMC network on October 31, and the first week of November on all Fox International Channels

oh man that scene where they were axing the dead guy and smothering themselves in it was so narsty, they even made the chopping and crunching and slicing noises so realistic it was blehhh now i know why the episode was called guts

The comic itself is only 75+ chapters (so far?), not long as far as comic books go. Usually anyway.

My guess is the couldn't get through the cuffs so he cut off his hand

If they had a new episode everyday then the season would be done after 6 days.

What bothers me more is why they were even trapped inside the town, in the comic he was saved by Glenn, and him alone, and they got out without any troubles whatsoever.
