The why are certain maps so popular?

Here are a few popular maps;
Dota Allstars
Footmen
Battleships
Footmen vs Grunts
Dota(RoC)

-All of them are essentially getting the opponents base down.
-they all have a variety of classes which can be picked which will have different effects on the game.
-Footmen and Battleships are easy to learn, and the consequences of dieing are not severe in terms of time or gold.
-All of them involve a load of units as the main source of gold and exp.
-All of them have strong replayability as each game is different.

Thats just my thoughts and 5 maps, any maps you want to use and say why you think they are popular?

um... i think just some bad (as in noobish) people are playing, and are trying to get better( like me and footies) or... they are pros and want to kill evryone. that's my opinion. sorry fo the bad spelling
