timer problems

I just started a new map, but have a problem with timers and variables. I have lined up several heros to select in an arena. That works, but I want a timer to start once a hero is selected. I know WHAT to do but not HOW to do it. I have tried using variables in the past, but they always came out miserably. I have had to work around or delete a trigger altogether because of this. I need this help desperately!

first u have to set the event like il guess tha the obtaining of heros is done by trigger so the ven might be

player enters region hero choice 2

then u need to create a countdown timer window
the trigger is basicaly

countdown timer: Create Countdown timer window" (thats an action)

then u need ot mkae it show its in teh same group as the other trigger

show last created coutdown timer window (action also)



i dont know what else u want to do w/ it but if u need to make somehting hapen when the tiemer expires u need to make a countdown timer variiable and another trigger that is like

countdown timer expires bla bla bla do so and so

but that involves the varriable

Because that was probably as unintelligible to you as to me, here's a translated version. Assuming you want only one timer that starts as soon as any Hero is selected, you'll need to put this in the trigger you use for selection, at the end (you'll need a variable of type Timer named GameTimer, or anything you want, and a variable of type Boolean named TimerStarted):

If (All Conditions are True) then do (Then Actions) else do (Else Actions)
    If - Conditions
        TimerStarted Equal to False
    Then - Actions
        Set TimerStarted = True
        Countdown Timer - Start GameTimer as a One-shot timer that will expire in 600.00 seconds
        Countdown Timer - Create a timer window for GameTimer with title Time Remaining
        Countdown Timer - Show (Last created timer window)
    Else - Actions

That'll do it for ten minutes.
