Titan Lag - BF2142

Whenever I board my own or an enemy titan I always lag. I have a nVidia GeForce 6800 and 1 GB RAM. There are practically no other background tasks running when I play and all other gameplay in BF2142 is silky smooth. This happens every time, so I don't think it's because their commander moving the titan.
