Tomb of Jarahcon 1.17c


A party of up to 6 brave heroes travel in search of the great tomb of Jarahcon. On their way they meet fierce beasts and friendly guides to aid them on their treacherous journey.

-10 hero classes, each with their own unique advantages and disadvantages plus some subclasses to allow further specialisation.
-Fully customized skill point system, integrating, not only strength, agility and intelligence, but 7 more characteristics which enhances your heroes ability strengths.
-33 (total, not all accessable in one game) stages of immensely differing terrain types, from the lush marsh near Nollen pier to the fiery pits of Jarrahcons tomb.
-Fully customized item system, introducing common, uncommon, rare and ancient items. Weapon and armor upgrades that actively increases different aspects of your heros, damage, attack speed, critical chance, magic reduction, the list goes on.


Overall an immensely challenging team based rpg that requires players to work together, or die in discord.

This was a map that I made about 6 months ago, after I was inspired after playing a obscure and utterly tame team based rpg that used melee heroes and standard warcraft items. I thought to myself, why dont I make a great team based rpg that is challenging and as far away from the war craft norm as possible. So here is my attempt.

Basically I'm calling on all to give it a go and tell me what I could do to make it truly great, or new hero class ideas as I've been working on a few maps lately and my brain is very much tired. Skill changes, or anything you guys could think of to make it better.

Man, nice terraining. This isn't the right place but how do you change tileset?

Is this map kinda like Tomb of Jericho the game. Anyways, this seems cool, can't wait to try it!

I'll give you a hint, its under the advanced tab.

I'm not familiar with Tomb of Jericho, I'm assuming its a console game, because I don't have a console. Might look into it, you never know where you might find that next great idea. Cheers.

It's Jarahcon, I guess that is quite annoying ( I blame my dyslexia ), sometimes my fingers get a bit all over the place, lets just say I use backspace alot :eek:

I'll go through my post and fix it, the more I look at it the more it annoys me :p

Yeah, Tomb of Jericho is scary! game where you go deep into.. um... the tomb of Jericho. and you fight EVIL!

"Evil doesn't die. It sleeps." or something like that lol. Hey you wanna do a beta test tonight? If u are gonna do it, im in.

Would be kewl, but considering I don't know when your night is (Earth?) that could be difficult.

Great map indeed. Have played it with friends several times. And here is what I found out.

Since I'm playing Holy Clergy only, the things will be about her.
First - the skill based on inner fire (forgot the name) it says it gives 4% and 1 armor. Armor depends on Constitution. It's all right about armor. But the 4% in the tooltip stays 4%. Damage increases with each level as I spotted so I guess it isn't correct that it keeps showing 4%.
Second - tranquility. It shows in level 5 that it heals 0 hp. Dont know whether it heals or not though.
Third - the cooldown on Resurrection (in my opinion) is way too big. There was once a moment when 3 of ours died and guess what.. it took 12 minutes to only revive them. Thats kinda really long.
Fourth - it takes only 4 heroes to get to the Burning soul (we got there twice). Well, that place is really challenging and we died both times but thats not the point. Both times when we got there we had the combination of Holy Clergy, Barbarian, Fighter and Wizard. Other combinations usually failed (maybe cause of people, dunno). Anyways, the point is that other heroes seem kind of unnecessary. Why such a deduction? Because first time we died cause we didn't know what is going to be there. Second time we died in the very end only because I died unfortunately. The soul was almost dead and it was quite a pity :). As a result we figured out that we wouldn't have died if all people had pots with them.
Fifth - Plains of the Dead. Can't remember if that was the right name… Whatever. The place where the Dark Skull spawns and you need to use it to summon boss. Once it happened that the skull spawned behind some trees and we simply couldn't take it.

All in all - truly a great map. Unlike most of others it takes quite a lot of effort and teamwork to beat it (we haven't though beaten it yet, hehe).

Well Im in the US East New Jersey.

Ok, i played it again as a ranger and I got to level 23 lol. You can't save?

Also, how come theres nothing after the rune you get.

Cheers guys, and thanks for the truly comprehensive feedback there BioDiablo.

I'll address your queries in the order you presented them:

1 - Heroes imbues benefits are based not on the holy clergies constitution, its based on the con. of the hero its cast on, it may very well be needing to be fixed, or I've made the damage bonus so negligible that that its not noticeable inwhich I will think about giving it a buff. I'll look into it, cheers.

2 - A tool-tip error, thanks for pointing that out.

3 - Yes the cool down is very long, mabee theres something I could do to balance the effect, such as increasing the mana cost, and/or making it so that every time the holy clergy resurrects a party member she loses 5% of her max hp. I'm not to sure how to balance it in that respect. However, death in ToJ is severe and thats the way it should be. Losing 3 members of the party in alot of cases is fatal anyway. Again, I'll see what I can think of to mabee decrease the resurrection time.

4 - I have purposely made stages where a shop wouldn't be accessible (plains of the dead, Alter of Fire) just so heroes would have to prepare themselves fully and make decisions when it comes to gambling items or should I buy another set of pots just in case. The degree in which the heroes differ is very relevant on a broader scale.
Assassins for example early on seem like a drag, being the worst fighter early on due to having 0 aoe skills, however later on the assassin has the highest single target damage potential of all classes, its a matter of playstyle, assassins shouldnt be spearheading attacks but instead waits for the tanks to engage the rank and file, while the assassin shoots out the back to neutralize any support casters or ranged attackers that could break your parties line.
Until you see an assassin deal a 17,00 damage flash combo critical you don't really know how absolutely devastating a late game assassin can be, but its just a matter of draging him along and surviving long enough for the assassin to show his stuff.
I could write a compendium of class playstyles and good over-all team builds for people to try out, thanks for the notes.

5 - Ahhhh, duh, I'm an idiot :eek:, this problem I noted long ago, but obviously forgot to remedy it, thanks for reminding me and I'll be sure to fix it next update.

This map sounds cool ;d. I'll host it tonight with friends and give opinions then xd.

Do you need a certain number of people to do any good in it or does the difficulty scale with number of players?

Difficulty does scale, but you have to realize that if you want any hope of passing the later levels you'll want a balanced team of at least 5. The less heroes you have the less total damage potential your team has which is critical to defeating the later levels, where difficulty becomes exponential.

Oh, one more thing. Several people complain about some sort of echo (I don't know what are they talking about since I have my sound turned off).

If I'm not sleeping then we usually don't have anyone killed or even a wipe-out. So I think reducing cooldown and increasing mana on Resurrection would be nice.
Would be nice if you wrote some strategies. Like you said about that Flash combo thingy :). Currently the hardest place is the town of Hoisan when you first enter it. But, well, I sort of found out how to make it easy. I just order my tanks (Barbarian, Fighter) to stay in mid. While I together with Wizard keep running around from the danger (inside of fence usually).

Can't wait for an update ^____^

Hey Xenoche, so there's no save yet?

Only thing I would suggest after playing this is in some of the parts, such as Stage One with Murlocs, it's kinda strange for a whole army to homing target follow you all around, lol. Make it more of a you-make-first-move-aggro type and THEN they chase you, so that way, some people can have a chance to settle down first or something.

Also, yeah, there's nothing after the... Song of Fire Plains of Dead thingamagica where you have the Rune and stuff.

Ranger Stuff:
1.) Rangers have so little mana... I use 2 skills and I run out. Maybe you could increase mana recovery or total mana.

2.) The aimed shot skill that uses focus, what exactly is the point of that. It is mostly weaker than all the other skills and only barely above your normal attack. The only speciality I find in it is that you can attack twice as in attack normally and instantly use the skill to shoot again, and also: when there's enemies that turn invisible after they attack, you can quickshot them.

3.) Maybe you can add some abilities for the hawk, that would be cool.

Anyways, great game, as many others have said. Keep the good work up! Can't wait for next update. :D I love the terraining.

EDIT: I did it with 3 people. It was originally 4 people in the begining but my friend had to go. The first few times we played (we figured tere was no point in wasitn money on res with only 3 people so we restarted), we lost at the bandit-orc-town place but then, we made a strategy! Wel.. more of luck. 2 of us got lucky charms and we shared them with each other, getting mass upgrades and at least 1 set of pots for everyone. Then did the rest of the stuff to the runes and then were like, "So..." nothing. "Now what?" and then we left. :D

I PLAY ON AZEROTH EAST US! My bro might host it with me and other random people...

What do you mean by "there is nothing after"?
First - You summon the boss with Dark Skull.
Second - Kill him, get the Song of Fire.
Third - Find the Telebook of Hoisan (if you haven't found it by that time)
Fourth - Give Song and Book to one person and this person needs to use the book. As we spotted the book doesn't work if the person hasn't the Song in his inventory.
After visiting Hoisan you have to go in the portal again. You get teleported to the Flaming Bridge (I call it like that). All creeps are burning and at the end of the bridge you need to use the Song to summon Burning Spirit. (Hey, I'm already writing a walkthrough, hehe)

We got up to the 1st of the pyramids where you have to hit the gates... really, really long :) And then sudden creep attack just took us out xD You should check the spawn… there was such a freaking mass that they took us out in few seconds. Maybe cause of the insane damage (~100-120), maybe cause of the mass… who knows.
Anyways what I wanted to ask - how big is supposed the crit for assassin to be? I mean through the Flash Combo… You said it is 17'000. We did ~60'000… isn't that too much? It's like we killed Burning Spirit with 2 hits (the crit wasn't so big that time) and then when we were fighting the lightning boss our assassin made a crit of 60k and almost instantly killed the boss.

I started to cheat… :) In single player, of course, since I just wanted to know what happens if…
So the question is - what to do in the Act 10. The creeps just keep spawning more and more, and more, and more, and more, and more… well you got the point. The 2 Demonic Beakons - whats up with them. Do I need 2 people to activate them somehow or what? I'm really confused.

You got past bridge or what? I don't really understand where you are.
So after you defeat the Burning Spirit the priestess in the Hoisan tells you to travel west. So - go west (opposite the portal). After a short walk in the forest you will find yourself in another "town". Go speak to that Druid - he will tell you that he needs some charged orb or something. Anyways. Go into portal north-west of you after he gives the empty orb to you. After you defeat Lightning boss (and wait until the orb fills with energy) you are welcome to nightmare… :) Druid gets his orb and says he needs some runes or something. Go east just above the flaming volcano-type of place. Then you find yourself in a tomb… GL dying :)

Ok, it seems I need to look into the exponentiallity of the later levels damage wise. It is extremely hard. I'm considering upping the difficulty through the mid levels, and weakening the later levels where they seem to be bordering on impossibility.

Nice walk through ya got there :p

I'll be doing a few adjustments to the difficulty and do some beta tests tonight after work of 0.95, if the new class (druid) and difficulty is all good then I'll update it here. For all to play.

Good to get nice solid feedback, thank guys.
