NOTE: This isn't going to be a huge novel, or even a book, just a rough idea of what the game will look like 
.
I spent about 10 minutes each time over the day making this, and now I've finish 5 1/3 pages, for chapter one of my RPG 'Topaz Tales':
Chapter 1 – Memories Return
I remember that day well. The day my life changed, the day my quest began. The Earth shook violently, storms approached everywhere, holes began to appear in the ground, tsunamis were striking along the coasts. Only one person I knew could do anything, he believed in the legend, and since this happened, I do too.
We took shelter in a nearby house as the rain continued the flood the city, we sat in the kitchen and waited. His name was Yuujin, and he protected many people through-out the city.
“You know what is going to happen, don’t you?”, Yuujin asked. I stared blankly. Yuujin had a deep voice, it would always give people the impression that he knows best, that he’s strong and wise. I know for a fact that he is indeed strong, and he definitely knows more than most people.
“If the storms continue, everyone dies..”, he continued, “And if monsters start to emerge within the cities, this will be proof that the legend is real.”, I turned to him, I was filled with doubt and grief at the time, I barely knew what was happening, but I looked up and pulled a straight face.
“Yes.. I know.”, I responded, shortly after I looked down again, I could hear the crackling of fire, and people screaming in agony, it felt horrible just to listen, I never wanted to hear it again.
“If we wait, we may be here forever, I’m going to take a look outside..”, Yuujin told me, he seemed very eager to go outside and take a look.
“I’m coming too”, I replied, and slowly looked back up and followed him outside, where to my horror, I saw something I hoped I would never witness.
Monsters roamed the city, they were tearing buildings apart, and casting elemental magic upon everyone in sight. Yuujin turned to me, he sighed, then quickly took out a sword from his sleeve.
“Here, you will need it..”, he yelled suddenly, his voice was struggling to compete with the fiery hell-hole that had become of our home, “If the monsters keep coming, everyone will die… you know that right?”, I nodded, It seemed kind of obvious that everyone would die if monsters took over, “You need to prepare for future attacks”, I stared blankly, as if there’d ever be a future here, his lecture was interrupted by what we call an ‘Orvy’, Yuujin quickly ran, “Here it comes, fight!”.
I followed him with great difficulty, how on World could he even walk with this huge thing up his sleeve? Let alone fight!
I took my position as the Orvy took out its wooden Mace, Yuujin run at it and impaled its heart, he turned and bellowed, “I hope my sword isn’t too heavy for you”, I grinned as he ejected his sword from the monster, it fell on one knee and threw its Mace directly at Yuujin.
Yuujin hit the ground, he deflected it with his sword, which also went flying, he was un-armed.
“You have to kill it..”, he cried out, “Don’t die! Your parents will never forgive me.. ugh..” he continued, he cough a lot of blood, he soon collapsed.
I was in shock, and sadness, but this sadness soon grew into anger as I dragged Yuujin’s sword after the Orvy and hopelessly attempted to attack.
The Orvy grunted and smacked me into a building, I blacked out.
It was probably a day later that I woke up in the defiled hospital, I looked around, the nurse was on the other side of the room, I tried to call, but speaking felt like setting my face on fire.
“Hey..”, I heard a strange, dark whisper, like an elemental demon or something, “Hey!”, it continued.
“Who’s there?” I said, then clutched my throat immensely as a huge rush of pain ran through me.
“I’m right beside you, moron..”, he called, he was in a hospital bed too, his sheets were blood covered and he had marks covering his face.
The nurse walked over to me and Yuujin, she smiled, and said slowly, “Hello, how are you feeling?”, I stared briefly, then looked around, I daren’t speak so I began pointing at my throat, my mouth and trying to get the message to her that I couldn’t speak, “I understand, we scanned you both earlier, and we were incredibly surprised with what we saw..”, she toned her voice down, she began to sound spooky, “You have a disease that was thought to be part of.. the legend.”, she whispered in a low voice, “Cryksilliphis, would randomly mute, blind or deafen you, you’re very lucky not to have been damaged badly, your senses and speaking ability’s are fine, but you might want to avoid speaking and spell things out to others.”, she concluded.
I looked over to Yuujin, then back, then Yuujin suddenly spoke, “I got it too, only I wasn’t so.. fortunate.” He sighed, looked down, and then continued, “I’m blinded for eternity.” He said, quickly interrupted by the nurse.
“Not necessarily, from what we’ve seen, everyone now believes that the legend is true”, she paused for a moment, then slowly continued, “The beast, Cryx, is waking up”, she raised her hand, “If no one should journey to Core”, she snapped her fingers, “that’s it, everything will vanish, as if time were to rewind in less than a microsecond.”.
A week later, I was walking through the scaffoldings and rebuilt parts of the city, when I saw a large crowd over at the market. I ran over to see what was going on.
People were talking about ‘The Phoenix Team’, I had no idea what they meant, but then a stranger rose onto a platform and began to speak.
“People of Cylan, of World! We, the Phoenix Team, are going to journey to Core and stop this ‘Cryx’!”, as he said this, the crowd began to cheer, a few more people stood on the platform, “May I introduce my trusted team.. Will! World class thief and weaponry specialist!” The man on the far left of the platform in a cloak held up his hand, I guess he was Will, the crows roared, “Next to Will, Riki! Infamous warrior and wielder to the mythical Bloodshed Ghost!”, Riki held up his blade, it was an incredibly powerful thing, some say it was because Riki wielded it, Riki was one of, if not, the most powerful warrior in all of World, “To my right! Cylan’s greatest mage, Armend!”, Armend held up what looked to be a voodoo doll, it looked very life-like, “And last but not least! Ev, the living doll! Capable of seeing EVERYTHING!”, Armend held up his doll which was now flailing its arms all over the place.
“We will be staying here one more night before we journey to Core to fight Cryx, wish us luck everyone! And good luck to all who oppose or compete against us!” he yelled, leaving the crowd in an uncontrollable state.
I never understood what the big deal was, “Anyone could go to Core and kill Cryx, right?”, I said to Yuujin, I was eating, the pain didn’t seem to bother me so much then, and I’d grown used to it by this point.
“Not really that simple at all”, Yuujin said, “Long ago, was a war between both sides of World, philosophers and scientists worked hard together but found a way to create monsters from dead humans. Eventually everyone was making them and using them against each other, no one thought it would stop, until one day, a madman called ‘Jindo’ created the deadliest thing that ever layed eye upon World. It began to think deeply, and before anyone knew it, they all just died. Survivors somehow locked Cryx away in World’s Core and put into a 1000 year slumber. No one really thought about how this would affect anyone, until now.”, he looked up, “If Cryx wakes up, he’ll remember what happened, and he’ll make everyone pay, if something has the power to bring thoughts to life, bad things will happen.” He concluded.
“You’re not saying that..”, I was quickly interrupted.
“Yes, Cryx killed everyone with thought, it’ll probably imagine the entire universe being crushed into nothing, either way, Cryx will live, we won’t.” he concluded, he left the house leaving me In shock.
I found him later that day, I was thinking about what if we saved World from Cryx and not the “Phoenix Team”, so I asked him.
“Follow me”, was his response, I guess he was for the idea. We entered a large room, it looked like a training arena.
“Is it a training arena?” I asked.
“Correct, I think I should train you so that you’re capable of fighting monsters, let’s start easy..”, he opened a giant cage, and a reptile looking thing hopped out, it looked like a baby dragon, “This, is a Cophseal, a very common beast, but easy to kill, give it a shot”, he stepped a side as it hopped over to me.
“Alright! Let’s do this!”, I shouted, I got the sword out and struggled but managed to perform a decent slice with the blade, I killed my first monster!
“Good job, let’s step up a notch.”, he walked over to the next cage, and opened it, “This one’s a Gimp, not as easy to kill and slightly deadlier with the power to cast thunder magic on you, be careful and be quick.”, I nodded and watched as it walked over, it was about my size. I took a few slashes at it, he fell back, rose, and began to raise its hands into the air in a circular motion”.
“Be ready to dodge, it’s channelling its spell”, Yuujin yelled, “Or better still run towards it!”.
I nodded and turned to the monster, I ran up to it and just narrowly missed a bolt of lightning which carved through the thatched roof, I took a lunge and impaled the gimp right through its throat.
“You certainly have improved since that Orvy” Yuujin sniggered as he walked over to the final cage, he let it open, “I wonder if you’ll manage it now!”.
I stared as another Orvy walked out of the cage, the room shook as it happened, I held my sword up, then I heard Yuujin continue, “Orvy’s can’t actually use magic, they can only really attack, but their attacks are very powerful, so watch out!”, he concluded and stepped back.
I ran towards the Orvy with the sword in the air, before I could make contact, it threw me into the wall with its arm.
“Argh! That hurt!”, I whimpered, Yuujin was right next to me, he slowly put his arm on my shoulder, “You’ll kill it, I know you will”, he thrusted me forward, “But it helps if you’re fighting it! Now get it!” he yelled.
It’s just an Orvy, I killed those other two creatures, this shouldn’t be so hard, I thought.
The Orvy charged towards me with its Mace flailing around in the air, I closed my eyes, and quickly took a glimpse, I could’ve sworn my sword was on fire. I took another look, and it was glowing very brightly, I got ready for an attack, but the sword grew out of control, it slammed into the ground.
The noise was intense, but the Orvy fell back into its cage, I saw blood leak out as I got up.
“Hmph, I see you concentrated your weapon..”, Yuujin walked over to me, he put his blade into his sleeve, “When one concentrates on their weapon long enough, it gains enough power to cast its hidden ability, that was what just happened with you.”.
I stared in astonishment, “Wow, so my weapon sends beasts flying, what does yours do?”, I spoke in amazement.
“I have many weapons”, Yuujin replied, “But the one I’ve carried through my family is the one I tend to use more often.”, he continued, looking up at the hole in the roof, “You won’t want to know.. just yet..”, he said slowly, and quietly.
“Well, that’s enough training for one day, good job, you’ll make a good warrior some day..”, Yuujin left me in the room, I was pleased with what I achieved that day.
That was how it all begun, but there’s still more to how I ended up journeying…
