I thought there was an ability that leaves a trail of fire behind the unit as it walks around, but I can't seem to find it. I thought it was Illidan's ability as well.

Is there such an ability or am I thinking of something else?

u mean when illiden walk, some fire will follow his foot steps, yeah?
but...i think that's just some doodad...it's not ability, i dont know am i right or not but that's what i know :o

i think its part of the model, those are the footsteps he leave behind, just like how meat wagons leave tracks where they move. and i think its part of the model because the footprints/tracks change with the model, theres no ability that does it and theres no value in the unit where you can set its foot steps, the foot steps just come with whatever model you're using.

Indeed (Illidan's footprints are part of his model or something to that amount), but it just so happens, for convenience, I believe Blizzard actually has a flaming footprint MODEL somewhere. Obviously, wherever you place it, you'll see a glowing Illidan footprint that never disappears (unless you trigger it). No, they have not done the same for the Undead Meat Wagon, for those wondering.

yea they MUST have his foot print model somewhere, because you see it all over the place in the NE campaign on TFT when you're trying to track illidan, and those footprints do not fade away, they are permanent, so its not actually his foot prints its just the model of his foot prints

Illidan's footprints are a doodad. You can find them in the doodad pallette under "cinematic." They are named "Footprints Demonic"

It doen't have nothing with the model, since if you select it in Unit Palette and browse it's "Walking" animation you wouldn't find the footsteps in it.
The mainly difference between "Illidan" and "Illidan (Evil)" in Object Editor is that the second has the Channel ability. But removing it don't remove the footsteps, so it has nothing to do with this.

I'll try my best in this quest

Erm, then explain to me why the Meat Wagon has the trail behind it, the Crypt Lord model has the stomping sound AND footprints behind it, and WHY when I add the Illidan model file to any unit, he has the footprints in game?

It's the model.

The reason you don't see it on the Previewer, is becuase it's not part of the ANIMATION, it's from the MODEL.

Yeh its part of the model.
Its a little thing called event objects.
Its a small line of text in the mdl that calls up other models. They only show when the model is used. It's like death animations(most are a blood splat) and some birth(nigth elf, maybe undead) animations.

See http://www.wc3campaigns.com/showthread.php?t=54977 though you won't understand most of it unless you already model.

Lol, thanks for not reading my post. Look in the edittor and you'll see that (even though you may be right and the model may call the footprint model) you can also set Illidan's footprints as a doodad...

How often does the Trending Content box refresh?
  • The Helper The Helper:
Also, in the last template there was a seperation between sticky threads and regular threads in the forum
  • Ghan Ghan:
Not sure. It's probably part of a cron job.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Hey Ghan, whatever cron job its part of its not running its been the same for days. If it does not work can we remove it?
  • The Helper The Helper:
    LOL! A tweak job!
  • The Helper The Helper:
this is the fix I get from that yeah this is hard to control. disabling bots is pretty much necessary as ai and other bots would push really old threads to the top. reduce weight of view count. disable guest view tracking if you really want to push active threads to the top. a bit of tinkering for a few days with the weights and other settings should get you a decent trending widget box.
  • Ghan Ghan:
I changed the settings a bit.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Narrowed it to 7 days for the half-life and set views to 0 weight.
  • The Helper The Helper:
I dont think Trending would work for this forum it would be better to just have the last 5 posts from anywhere
  • Ghan Ghan:
Probably will have to give it some time to update.
  • Ghan Ghan:
I'm guessing it is not retroactive.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Next on the punch list: Update the server to Ubuntu 24.04.

One thing I have noticed and I dont know if it is by design but like 1 out of 3 times I come to the site the Anubis screen just hangs open, if I refresh it will go away but sometimes it hangs
  • Ghan Ghan:
    I've seen that as well.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Wow - the change in the stats are major. I kind of knew it was all bots but wow, to see the effect. Why the social media sites cant do something like this I have no idea.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Probably inflates their numbers so they look better to advertisers.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Yeah google does not filter those bots. I remember when Apex was doing Google ads I saw the same IPs in there as I was seeing here - google is totally tracking all those bots as traffic and most google traffic, at least ours, was all bots
  • The Helper The Helper:
oh wow, i bet i can post x links now and do the webp pics now giggity
