Hello everyone,

Does Trend's PC Chilln also act as a firewall as well as an Virus Scanner ? I'm not sure on that one.

Also, can you possibly get hacked when playing on Battle.net ? I'm asking this because I piss off a lot of people by backstabbing them.

As for Battle.net, I would not want a pissed off hacker to come after me. I hear that's impossible since there's no way you can get another users's IP from Battle.net. I understand I can get hacked on Web pages and such...

If you are playing through realms (closed battle.net) then your IP address isn't known to the other players.

In open battle.net (and Starcraft, War2bne, Diablo 1) it can be found by other players because you are playing peer-to-peer with them.


You don't need a firewall to prevent your computer from being hacked. As long as you don't install trojans on your computer, you should be ok.

PC Cillin is a virus scanner, not a firewall.

In regards to rapmaster's first post, at one time battlenet had a few buffer overflows, me and Adron attempted quite a few times to use these to run exploit code, but due to the lack of memory we never succeeded, luckily most of these have been patched as it still caused client side crashing, and if we had poked around a bit more we may have found some address space to use (it only takes a few bytes to screw up someone's system).

Also, since he mentioned back stabbing, he's most likely playing SC/War2bne, in which case anyone in the game can get his IP.
