Tribal Races

Overview:

This is a 1 on 1 race where you must go through many things and kill the Eye at the center of the map. You will control 4 heroes, but only 1 at a time. You will receive a new hero at each checkpoint. I suppose it's a mini-game. Sreenies at the bottom.

Conditions:

What are conditions? If you have played Rising_Dusk's "Desert of Exile", this is a similar setup. Easiest way to explain is through an example. Say there's fireball that hits you. If you get hit by a fire, you would be burning, no? The burning is a condition. Many items that you may choose from are aids for these conditions. There are 7 in this game:
  1. Bleeding - 10 dps, lowers ms by 25%, lasts 10 seconds
  2. Burning - 20 dps, lasts 10 seconds
  3. Freezing - 15 dps, restricts movement, lasts 6 seconds
  4. Haunted - lowers armor by 6, may not respond to commands, lasts 6 seconds
  5. Confused - causes unit to move in random directions, misses 50% of attacks, lasts 6 seconds
  6. Stunned - same as blizzards, lasts 3 seconds
  7. Paralyzed - shocks the unit 5 times, loses 20 mana every shock, lasts 10 seconds



Modes:

1v1: Not really a mode, but you can play a Bo1, Bo3, or a Bo5.

Tournament: Brackets are randomly drawn as byes are randomly given if there is a mess up number of players. It is single elimination. You are allowed to watch even if you have lost.

Tag Team: Players will be divided up into 2. This mode will not be available if there is an odd number of players. Each member on the team will run through the course once. The team that gets all of their members through wins.



Future:

I am planning on creating 2 more terrains for this race if it seems somewhat successful and a ctf later on. If anyone is interested to terrain, I would be glad to accept your help.



Heroes:

  • Mur'gul Slave
    • Martyr - Cannot die for 5 seconds
    • Rapid Movement - Creates many "illusions" to fight for you
    • Lifeless - Immune to bleeding
    • Cannibalism - Heals off a corpes
  • Dragon Turtle
    • Devour - Eats a unit, heals 30 hp off the target every 2 seconds. Lasts until unit is dead
    • Eat Tree - Eats a tree, heals 15 hp per second for 10 seconds
    • Turtle Shell - Immune to stun, bleeding, and paralyze
    • Burn Fat - Permanently increases movespeed by 30, but permanently lowers max health by 150.
  • Couatl
    • Spirit Form - Enables flight over trees, canceled if the bird dies
    • Phase Shift - Phases out of demension, avoids incoming attacks
    • Flight - Immune to stun
    • Learning Mind - Becomes more resistant to conditions as he is afflicted by them
  • Mur'gul Reaver
    • Maul - Blinks to target, instant kill
    • Hide - Same as Blizzard's
    • Nature's Touch - Immune to stun
    • Summon Demon - Afflicts 6 of 7 conditions on the opposing hero
  • Snap Dragon
    • ???
    • ???
    • Aquatic scales - Immune to burn
    • ???
  • Naga Siren
    • Celestial Strike - Deals 150 to the other hero
    • Song of the Siren's - Creates havoc on the other hero
    • Mana Shield - Absorbs 50% of damage at the cost of mana
    • Ritual - Kills a unit for mana
  • Naga Myrmidon
    • ???
    • ???
    • Tough Scales - Immune to freezing
    • Killing Blow - 50% to 1-hit kill
  • Naga Royal Guard
    • Summon Squires - creates 2 aiding units
    • We are One - Distributes damage across the linked units
    • Trained - Immune to being Haunted
    • Royal Degree - Removes all conditions from himself and squires

A: They have a timed life.

Q: Why do effects randomly disappear?
A: Look above.



Other:

I decided to remove the "beta" map for now. I'm nearing completion of the hero's abilities. I don't want to spoil the map ;) , not that it really matters. What I'm in need is hero abilities, as you can see. Try to come up with survival abilities, as they are the only ones that matter.

Well I, for one, thinks your map sounds and looks pretty nice.
I'll certainly playtest it sometime, if I can get any of my pals to play with me :p

Overall it seems as a very well thought through idea and a seemingly intresting map. Be sure to post updates and stuff, and I'll post again after I've tried playing it :)

I got rid of the attached map, reasoning on the original post. I added the list of heroes and their abilities. Any survival ability suggestions are welcome.

Wind Rush - Increases movement speed for a duration, but gets slowed for a short duration after that.
Phase Shift - Phases out of demension, avoids incoming attacks.
Flight - Immune to stun.
High Flyer - Flies at a great height, becoming immune to all damage for a short duration but slowing movement speed.
Mur'gul Reaver
Wear and Tear - Damages the target and heals yourself.
Flesh Armour - Each unit killed increases armour. Every few points of extra armour from this skill can block 1 effect.
Sense of Fear - For every unit near you, you get more attack damage.
Watery Self- Immune to burn.

Snap Dragon

Water Rush - Moves quickly in front of you and damages units you touch.
Scale Armour - Immune to freezing and paralyse.
Water Boost - Creates water at your feet to make you move faster but has a chance to slip (stunned for a while).
Dragon WhirlPool - Summons a whirlpool that slows and damages all unit (even enemy player controlled units).

Abilties will not be levelable I take it? I mean, it'll be kinda weird to have abilities that give an immunity on the first level and.. "then what?" on the next levels :p

Very inventive and intresting ability ideas btw Zack :thup:
I'll try to come up with some myself later, but I don't have the time atm, sadly.

The abilities are not levelable because you will control the heroes around 1-4 minutes. It is a faster paced race after all.

Ahaa, I see. nice :)

Anyways, here are som ideas for the remaining three heroes (assuming you'll use most of the ideas posted above):
Naga Siren
*Howl of the Depths - Removes Burning from the hero, and causes Bleeding on other heros for a short duration.
*Silken Song - Heals self and all nearby friendly units some hp.
*Vibrant Skin - Immune to Bleeding and Freezing.
*Song of the Siren - Makes all other players' heros temporarily Confused.
Naga Myrmidon
*Trident Smash - Deals some bonus damage and cause Stunned to a target unit (melee).
*Battle Veteran - Boosts armor and attack damage whenever the hero becomes Bleeding, Confused or Haunted.
*Blue Scales - Immunity to Stunned and Burning.
*Deep Sea Spell - Removes Burning from all units that have it atm, and deals a little damage to all enemy units.
Naga Royal Guard
*Call Murloc Guards - Summons three tiny and puny murlocs to fight for the hero.
*Golden Trident - Makes each attack have a 5% chance to cause either Bleeding, Confused or Stunned to the target.
*Green Scales - Immunity to Paralyzed and Bleeding.
*Ward of Duty - Temporarily makes the hero and all friendly units immune to all Conditions.

I hope they're any good. Feel free to use as much as you like :)

I hope you know this is a one on one style. Only 2 heroes will be on the field at max. One controled by you and other by your opponent. However, I can alter them slightly so they become more useful.

I updated the oringinal post with a description for each of the conditions, new spells, and a couple for FAQs.

I'm getting too caught up in the coding, I haven't finished half the spells I've listed there...
