Trillan over AIM?

Im thinking of switching to trillan, supposedly it has access to the yahoo and AIM networks and many others. Anyone have any experience with it?

I kinda wanna change because I don't like AoL, the aggresive advertising and showers of free 6 month trails that come with EVERYTHING are ticked me off, but the real deciding factor was today. I log on and it says it wants to update to 6.0 from Triton, I looked at the features and said no, it still can run with an older version, and no means no. There are a couple of users on my comp, so AIM decides to try to ask someone else to upgrade it, that person did, and I can't revert it or download the old version. That ticks me off.

Either way, anyone used Trillan? Is it good? Cause I want to try it out

Try Gaim. Its a linnux that runs practically everything at the same time. Also, no ads or anything. I can run as many AIM accounts as I want, as well as like ICR, IRC, and everything.

Just keep in mind that multi-IM like GAIM, Miranda and Trillian are "Jacks of all trades and masters of none".

Personally, I will only pick GAIM (full featured) or Miranda (highly customizable) if I am going to use an Multi-IM. I am extremely negative towards a commercial product that has free and more capable counterparts.

Since I got trillian, I haven't thought of switching back to AIM, definitely give it a shot.

I used Trillian, and love it. But I can't use it anymore, it won't work. :(

Im downloading Trillan now, lets see how this goes.

I like it, one question, is there a way to set a password for the trillan program itself? so another user on my comp couldnt click start -> programs -> trillan and come to my screen complete with connection stats and a global login to all im services? O and is there really no way to make it display itself in the taskbar?

>>I like it, one question, is there a way to set a password for the trillan program itself?
Well, you could make a new Identity and make a password on that, Trillian > Connections > Manage Connections > Create New Identity. Then they will need the identity password to use any of your logins.

Not sure.

Thanks for the first one, and I found the second one.

Trillan prefs -> Contact List -> Check the last box under access and position

  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
