Trouble with damage-over-time spells

Hi there all :D

I've encountered an annoying problem in World Editor: standard damage-over-time spells and abilities such as poison arrows, envenomed weapons, and parasite can be set to kill a unit in the object editor, however when the unit dies, the kill is not always credited to the player who actually gave the killed unit that fatal poisoned blow. I know this to be true because neutral creeps who are killed by a damage-over-time ability do not always give bounty.

I'm currently working on a needlessly complicated struct system to try and create my own damage over time system, but it's a real pain! If anyone has a quick, effective solution to this problem (that works) they may expect a bit of +rep on the side for their efforts :thup:

so, what you are asking for is a custom dmg over time system?
if you are able to use jass, something like that would be quiet simple with the use of local variables.
i could come up with something simple if you don't want to try yourself.
