Sounds great :)

About the customizable items, are you planning to make them "socketable" like;

1: [Socketable Armor] - Gives + X armor, has 2 socket places.
2: The user drops a "gem" or something on the armor and whoops!
3: It gives + X armor and + Y something.

Probably not. At this point the only thought is adding mods to your items (which will give you enough liberty to make your items as you wish anyway ^^).

Yet another shameless bump.

A lot of work have been done. Most beta-heroes are done (About 2-3 more to do) and basically all systems are done. Basically what has to be done now is a few more items, bases, and Savior's final touch on the terrain, then it'll probably be beta-time.

As for previous comments (months ago but better late than never :p), take the tutorial on our systems part. We'll probably add a game mechanics section in the forums that describes the fundamental parts of the game.

Considering we are to be keeping the heroes somewhat original, it'll all depend on the ideas we have. I alone made most heroes lately (Damien has done a lot of systems and is currently taking a break, and Flare just got back on making heroes for TC). Then it's the balancing between heroes that is to be done (base stats, base armor, stat gain etc).

Also we have done nothing with the bases, so the map is just plain terrain at the moment, and with quite a few ideas on how to keep this original it may take a good week only to get the bases running.

Then of course we will have to make a few more items, which too is a little annoying with the current system.

The only system that's fundamental at this point that isn't done would be the outposts, but that can't really take more than a few hours to put together.

Lastly Savior is to make the terrain look really awesome, which requires everything from above (at least the bases).

So my guess is that, if not earlier, the TheHelper community can consider this a christmas present from us to you ^^.

:p Well, I've only gotten 1 idea so far (I think the hero should maybe be a battle caster or whatever the term is, I can't think of many suitable abilities other than what I've got that stick to a single aspect, and the current ability is a pretty nice as regards melee, but it does look quite caster-ish :D)

So, any ideas? I'm hoping that by the time the hero is complete, all the abilities will tie into a theme of darkness, decay and possibly death, primarily darkness (purple!) and decay (DoT/debuff, that kinda stuff) though

Oh ye Larcenist, are we continuing with the spell synergy idea?

I'm getting the feeling this is way too much work, especially if they should affect duration/effect or the buffs etc. Would require some utterly annoying library which I'm really not up for making. But if you have the will and time to make this I guess we would be going for it.

I'll upload a few screenshots of new heroes in a few minutes.

Edit: Screenshots uploaded. Can be found at the bottom of first post.

Where's the brow-wiping emote? :D Was kinda hoping you'd say that - it's a cool idea, but way too impractical, especially for a whole AoS. Do I have to rework the Pyromancer, or can he be left with his self-synergy (just for the sake of sparing me the heartache of fixing it :p)

EDIT: Ooooooh, Mind Cage is sexy indeed :D

Nothing says that we cannot have synergy between the spells of a hero, which would be what we want really. So you wouldn't have to rework it (assuming the code doesn't look like crap since it was made ages ago).

I agree xD

Edit: Nice project, this is something special. You've gathered some good people, that usually means a good project. I love the spell ideas.

  • No one is chatting at the moment.
  • The Helper The Helper:
Actually I was just playing with having some kind of mention of the food forum and recipes on the main page to test and see if it would engage some of those people to post something. It is just weird to get so much traffic and no engagement
  • The Helper The Helper:
So what it really is me trying to implement some kind of better site navigation not change the whole theme of the site
  • Varine Varine:
How can you tell the difference between real traffic and indexing or AI generation bots?
  • The Helper The Helper:
The bots will show up as users online in the forum software but they do not show up in my stats tracking. I am sure there are bots in the stats but the way alot of the bots treat the site do not show up on the stats
  • Varine Varine:
I want to build a filtration system for my 3d printer, and that shit is so much more complicated than I thought it would be
  • Varine Varine:
Apparently ABS emits styrene particulates which can be like .2 micrometers, which idk if the VOC detectors I have can even catch that
  • Varine Varine:
Anyway I need to get some of those sensors and two air pressure sensors installed before an after the filters, which I need to figure out how to calculate the necessary pressure for and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to actually do that, just the cfm ratings
  • Varine Varine:
And then I have to set up an arduino board to read those sensors, which I also don't know very much about but I have a whole bunch of crash course things for that
  • Varine Varine:
These sensors are also a lot more than I thought they would be. Like 5 to 10 each, idk why but I assumed they would be like 2 dollars
  • Varine Varine:
Another issue I'm learning is that a lot of the air quality sensors don't work at very high ambient temperatures. I'm planning on heating this enclosure to like 60C or so, and that's the upper limit of their functionality
  • Varine Varine:
Although I don't know if I need to actually actively heat it or just let the plate and hotend bring the ambient temp to whatever it will, but even then I need to figure out an exfiltration for hot air. I think I kind of know what to do but it's still fucking confusing
  • The Helper The Helper:
Maybe you could find some of that information from AC tech - like how they detect freon and such
  • Varine Varine:
That's mostly what I've been looking at
  • Varine Varine:
I don't think I'm dealing with quite the same pressures though, at the very least its a significantly smaller system. For the time being I'm just going to put together a quick scrubby box though and hope it works good enough to not make my house toxic
  • Varine Varine:
I mean I don't use this enough to pose any significant danger I don't think, but I would still rather not be throwing styrene all over the air

I bitch about Xenforo sometimes but it really is full featured you just have to really know what you are doing to get the most out of it.
  • The Helper The Helper:
It is just not easy to fix styles and customize but it definitely can be done
  • The Helper The Helper:
I do know this - xenforo dropped the ball by not keeping the vbulletin reputation comments as a feature. The loss of the Reputation comments data when we switched to Xenforo really was the death knell for the site when it came to all the users that left. I know I missed it so much and I got way less interested in the site when that feature was gone and I run the site.
