1.) Where can I find a good Frozen Throne map protector? I'm tired of people stealing my work as their own. I tried the ones you guys recommended in the FAQ, but none of them worked for one reason or another.
2.) How do I make custom loading screens in my Frozen Throne maps? I've tried importing all different types of image formats, but it never lets me use any of them.

1) huh? what do you mean they don't work? I find it hard to believe someone has cracked the heavylock protection.

Anyway, open up your map in WinMPQ, and look for the file "war3map.wtg". Delete it. This is the file containing all your triggers. Your terrain and unit data can still be seen in the map, but your triggers will no longer be there, meaning no one can steal them.

And I guess this is obvious, but you might wanna make a copy of the map before doing this......

2) I'm attaching a tutorial on how to do custom loading screens.

WARNING: a custom loading screen will add about 1mb to the size of your map. DO NOT make a custom loading screen for a multiplayer map, because no one will want to play it cause it is too big.

1.) Heavylock wouldn't download correctly when I tried.

Doesn't deleting the triggers cause the map to start working? The triggers are the essential part of the map!

2.) Darnit. I'm making a multiplayer map. Sigh. Leave it to Blizzard to make it something big and complicated. You'd think they'd just let us use JPGs or TGAs or something.

1a) you obviously need to register with wc3campaigns to download it. It takes like 30 seconds at the very most.

1b) Just try it, it works fine.

2) It's actually not blizz's fault, it comes down to some hardware limitation on texture rendering, or something like that. It's definitely not as simple as just inserting a jpg or tga graphic.

Ok, I got the HeavyLocker. But now it keeps making my maps "corrupt", and they crash when I click on them in Frozen Throne. How do I correctly use HeavyLocker? Please give detailed instructions.

Would somebody please answer my question? Even if I don't use any obfuscate, HeavyLocker keeps causing my maps to be corrupt. Could someone please tell me what's wrong?

sorry for the delay, it was because I too encountered your problem and I've spent a fair bit of time trying to sort it out. It appears there is a problem with the latest version of the program, so I am attaching an older version for you to use which I just tried out now and it works fine for me.

Actually, it doesn't :(. This version doesn't corrupt my maps, but it doesn't lock them either! I can still open my "locked" maps in World Editor. The maps are like 30% smaller now, but they aren't locked! Some help please?

uh, yes it is openable in the editor, but if you had made the effort to look closer, you would have noticed that all your triggers had been deleted. What use is your map to anyone else if it has no triggers? It would only be of use if it was a melee map - are you making a melee map or a custom map? If it's a custom map, then like I said above, no triggers means no one is gonna steal your map.

HEY, what happened to the last 6 posts that were made on this topic????????????? WTH is going on?

i'd love to know too, I'll try to talk to the head honchos and find out what the frell is happening.

Anyway, to review my last question:
Why doesn't the "Full Lock" work for me in Heavy Lock? I've seen other maps that are fully locked, and I want mine to be as well

yea I'm trying to get in touch with BlackDick to get the answer, but I fear he may be on holiday atm.

Thanks for your patience anyway, I guess you must be really keen to get a good map out there......

You have no idea. I've spent in all over 150 hours making this huge map, pouring every bit of my effort into it. The map is currently about 800 kilobytes, and has over 40 custom heroes in it, each with custom abilities.

So now can you see why I don't want my work stolen :) ?

yeah sorry he told me he is away on holiday, but he is working infrequently on the next version of heavylock.

With the release of patch 1.13, he has (small) doubts that heavylock works properly now, so he is just making extra sure that everything is AOK.

i did suggest it to him at some point, but i got the impression he didn't wanna use it.

Extprotect was updated not more than 2 months ago btw, so it probably functions a lot better than it did back in the RoC days.

heavylock i guess has the advantage that it cant be beat for its filesize reduction capabilities.

Guys just a heads up I am going to be shutting the site down soon. I am just waiting on the NUON people to decide whether they want to transfer forum data and keep the discord. My email is [email protected] for anyone that wants to keep in touch and I have a facebook too. I will make an official post later. Love you guys and will miss everyone!

Someone email AtariAge and see if they want me to transfer the forum data over to it
  • Ghan Ghan:
Could probably keep NUON stuff around here if we wanted.
  • Ghan Ghan:
Hmm what to do about the World Editor site though?
  • Stephen Stephen:
I'd rather personally just own a backup of the Nuon data than see it go to AtariAge honestly. If it gets enshittified as per usual, or if some of the "regular" Jaguar folks get there, it's not gonna be fun
  • The Helper The Helper:
There will be a github of the forum data so the NUON Forum Data I guess would be available there
  • The Helper The Helper:
World Editor is technically Ryoko stuff not mine you guys can keep that I am not in that even
  • jonas jonas:
:( end of an era :(
  • The Helper The Helper:
Dont think of it as an end jonas - think of it as a beginning, because really my friend that is what it is.
  • A Andyoyo:
Thank you for the hard work over the years. It did not go unnoticed.
