"unable to join game" <- WTF

ok, my friend and i wanted to play on open B.net, but every time we try to join each other's games.... the "unable to join game" message apears. we both tried creating ang joining. Got the game name exact but i still can't join him. First i thought character difference, but you can't change that, then i thought difficulty, but that was good too. we tried joining other people's game, that worked and all but after about 2 min. it would say "The host has left the game". Is my friend and i destined to not play together or something?

Are you guys playing on the same network? In other words are the computers behind the same router? If they are you will not be able to play in each other games because of the way that Blizzard games handle the routing of data packets. You can check the blizzard support page at there website for the latest information regarding these issues but as far as I know it has not been resolved.

FYI, it is quite possible to play in the same game with two computers behind the same firewall, at least with DII. I regularly log on with two different computers in order to mule items without the danger of having the game drop and loosing my items. You do need to own two copies of the game, since you can only connect one computer per unique CD key, but it's not an issue trying to connect two computers from behind the same firewall...the only concern is a small increase in lag, due to 2x the information going back and forth over your internet connection.

i remenber when i always tried to mule creating a game and closing fast and loggin with my another char and sometimes the game ended and i lost my item ^^ most times that worked
