Using TFT features in ROC editor (Using .SLK's and WinMPQ)

    Just one question, is the .mpq adding models thing also able to be used in Frozen Throne?

    Yes. This is available on any WC map. But I don't see why you would do it with TFT editor, the built-in Import Manager is so much simpler than this, espeically since it doesn't delete the files when you save.

    It has some advantages when your adding files the import manager doesn't like or when your multi adding files. Or exporting for that matter.

    -Is nowhere to be found.
    Your Tutorial could also use a lot more explaining and images to show how things are supposed to be done. Specially considering that playing around with these files could result in countless of errors in the World Editor.

    AbilityFunc.txt does not get extracted; it is not an SLK file.
    Open War3.mpq to get the abilityfunc.txt, as well as other files.
    I think I mentioned that, but I'll go check, anyways.

    I guess I forgot to mention that you should always create a backup of all the files before you edit them, in case you want to restore it to it's default form. (Which can also be achieved by reinstalling.)

    I'm sorry that it isn't detailed enough; but between school, my friends, and my girlfriend, I have had very little time to do anything.
    I'll definately try to make it a bit more detailed and explanatory, but absolutely no permanent damage can be done if you take the proper precautions. You should always have backups of your maps.

    Darn it

    Hmm when i open the map it said:
    Refrencing unknown blah blah blah
    Refrencing unknown blah blah blah
    Refrencing unknown blah blah blah
    Refrencing unknown blah blah blah

    When i look for the ability i find with but when i test the map it doesnt appear. i spent a long time on the tutorial and doesnt even work :banghead:

    Wow good job and i mean really good job im currently working on a map that i want to be able to use on RoC but still have TFT features (purely because TFT has too much DotA and is incredibly hard to get a map "popular")

    You wouldnt happen to know how to use TFT triggers would you. As in some of the trigger options that arent available in RoC. If so please add it to this tutorial in the future.

    is there any way for me to make a map (with tft things) in the world editor then convert it into a tft map via slk? thx in advance lol

    To use most TFT triggers in RoC just convert them to custom text, than they will work fine.

    I went through your guide to make own spells. Well i can add them and when I'm in the game with the hero and he is Level 1, I can learn those abilities just as if they were normal abilities(so i mean it works^^) but when im in the the normal "Hero-mode"(with move, attack, etc.) the symbol doesn't show up anywhere. When i get another skill-point to use, the ability I just learned is still at Level 1. Do you have any idea whats wrong there?

    Yes. The Spell data hasn't been imported, most likely.
    Are you sure that you've imported it all into your map?

    This always happens if you only have RoC and you try using an FT ability. You will need to import all of the spell data into your map.

    Hey Tonk, Nice tutorial, I wrote something similar a while back. Shame people never search.

    I left mapping for a bit and now im back. And I'm having the same problem. I may be wrong but I think the problem is the outdated listfile for the war3patch.mpq.

    I've looked and I cant seem to find one, and tutorials on making your own (via storm.dll) don't seem to be working.

    I think there is data not included in the old patch listfile (1.18) that isnt in the (1.21) version. I applied it anyway and found all the "required" files and everything seeeeeems normal.

    To check it wasnt custom data causing the problem, I took a standard spell and simply changed the code (thus eliminating errors in either func or strings with c+p) and the same problem (research tip is there but the level never increases with selection and it doesnt appear when out of ability menu).

    So, if something has happened since I did this...
