Alright, here it is! The Archer has three abilities, the swordsman two (Swing Sword Defensively isn't available yet). There are quite a few bugs, of which I've tried to root out the most I could find. Please point more out as you come across them.

Oh, a few notes.

1) THE MAP IS LAGGY AND ENDS IMMATURELY! It's Alpha version so I haven't compressed the game and I haven't finished the playing map either. The abilities, however, are fully done, and the archer will have stats to upgrade all the way up to level 300, but you'll probably run out of stuff to kill upon reaching level 10-15.

2) PLAY AS RED! My idea of an expandable map revolves around Red playing as an ordinary hero but also as a sort of DM. With but a command he can open up gateways to farther places. Typing "open 01" will open the first passage, which leads from the basic place to the forest and the city of Murgad, where you may find your Library with some books to spend your pages on. Typing "open 02" will lead to a Demon Door, a special boss. Please let me know if he doesn't attack or does something else strange. After the Demon Door is the immature opening into the other 3/4s of the level, which is totally empty as I haven't worked on it.

3) BE CAREFUL WITH WHAT HERO YOU CHOOSE! I'm certain both work, but the Swordsman does 1 more damage yet at melee so he may get you farther faster than an Archer (which fires basically melee since the Fire Safely gives so much range that I don't want to change without making the ability too strong or too useless, so I have to start the archer off with a petty range of 300. It does however, at level 100, have it so that you have a range of 5300. That may be too much still, though....)

You can revive, fortunately, but you don't lose the last three inventory items like it says you do.

Black Markets are like a pricey storage in Solo, if you don't like leaving your items on the ground. Pawning your item to a Black Market SHOULD give the item into their stock, and buying it off from them will take it off. Let me know if this doesn't work.

Let me know how the music is, I'm attempting to add flavor, if only a little, to the RPG. I'm certain it works, I'm just not certain if you think it fits the theme in which it plays. Bosses have themes :)

yeah attach the map if you want us to play. hehe looking forward to it

I don't know why it didn't include it. Oh well.

What the heck?! It won't let me attach it....

It'll browse, but it won't attach.

Oh geez, 4,000,000 bytes. #%@&@#% it.

Any chance you can compress it via "protection"? I do have a backup and everything exported.

Ok, sure thing. Compression isn't working well XD

If it's 4 megabytes big, compressing it with a protector won't get it 3.5 megabytes smaller, since that's the upload limit on here. It will probably only compress it by about 200 kilobytes or so.

Uh oh, the website's being snotty where it tells me my email is incorrect and password is incorrect where some hours later it finds out I was right and it was wrong.

Bump to let everyone know I've put the link up.

Beats me. It honestly makes no sense.

LOL because of the music files. 2 megs each, and MP3 doesn't compress much.

I recommend one of the following.
-Remove them.
-Download dBpowerAmp and convert them to a smaller sampling rate.

Right now one is 397Kbps and the other 128. You could easily use 64 kbps or 96 kbps, and still retain decent quality, and less than half the file size (or I can send you new ones)

(mailing to you now)

NICE! Thanks very much, I didn't understand music was THAT large.

Uh oh, the files won't work. It can play them in the Jukebox and it can import them to show size, but they can't be played in the Sound Editor.

Well, I used the program to do it at 96, not 64, as far as I know and now it plays fine. It is, however, 500 KB more in both files than the ones you sent me. It is though, a 200% decrease in size, which is awesome.

...And so my Map dropped a whole 1,000,000 bytes, from 4,400 KB to 3,300 KB.

So anyone like it? It does need work, I know, and I have been working on it for a while. Current note of things that are going to be added:

Many graphic changing (particularly in terrain and particularly in the Undead Castle), but I'm sure you're tired of that by now

Murgad Stable. You can now buy Pack Horses here which carry six items.

Easier in first section so you don't have to advance to the second section so you can actually level up to take on the Undead Castle. There are now respawning regions in the first section, along with a few non-respawning Rogues added along for graphic and effect.

Delbarack Policemen added (very small amount for a very small town, of course) which respawn and man their posts constantly, just in case they are killed (though they most certainly couldn't be until an evil hero makes an apperance--they have 50 HP and a strong musket shot).

Murgad Police HQ has been made a little more effective. Saying open murgadstash or close murgadstash will do said thing to the iron gate leading to the Rogue Leader and Tattered Pages. Have no fear, it isn't retarded, and it will only close if it has been opened via the trigger first, as they turn each other off and on. The gate itself should be invulnerable and untargetable, so you can't destroy it to ruin everything. Saying criminal murgadstash will create a Rogue Leader in the stash for training purposes, but not before removing the Rogue Leaders already inside. And, last of all, saying fill murgadstash will create a Tattered Page in the stash, but not before removing the Tattered Page nearby, if the trigger was enacted before, to keep there from being infinite pages. The last command is merely of Red's goodwill. In the future I will either take the trigger out or add a tough condition, or I will make it so that Red can't pick it up, so that only the other players may benefit.

Nothing else, I'm afraid. I still plan on filling another 1/4th of the map though. I'm also going to add a better weapon shop where you see those strange houses to the east of the Castle.

Yeah I noticed :p

Luckily I live in an age with electricity so it's way fucking faster, but when I was just a boy trying to find my place I had some hardcore chefs that made use do things like that by hand. It is WAY easier to get right by hand because you control it and can feel it, but it takes soooooo much longer. And on the scale a modern kitchen requires... I serve 400-500 guests on average per day right now, if I had 100 then we could do things way better
  • Varine Varine:
But we can't do that. In the winter yeah, but I HAVE to get people through here right now so I can afford the staff that we CAN do that. We have about 100 days of summer, and if that summer doesn't make us what it will, then I can't operate the other most of the year with my staff. The owner is talking about closing two days a week to cut down on labor, I told him he should cut down on vacations and it did not go great. I do think I won though, I have to keep my fucking core staff and they have to be gainfully employed
  • Varine Varine:
Sure some of them might take a second job, but I can't just cut my entire staff to unlivable hours, nor can I can cut them off all winter if I want them to come back.
  • Varine Varine:
And also, there is no fucking way I'm pulling these hours come september. I only do this right now because I have to, the second I don't have to be the one doing it I won't be
  • Varine Varine:
I have a 5 person core staff in the kitchen, not including me or Chef Ben
  • Varine Varine:
Though two of those people are likely not making it this year. One of them has been replaced, the other I am kind of trying to. He's being a giant bitch, today I had to get onto him because in the three hours before I left he had taken like thirty minutes for cigarette breaks
  • Varine Varine:
And he was also complaining to me the other day that he was out of weed so couldn't smoke any before work that day, and was confused about why I was annoyed he was telling me, his boss, that he is smoking weed everyday before work.

  • Varine Varine:
Like yeah I can tell. I don't need to fucking know.
  • Varine Varine:
So now he's getting scrutinized and will not be top of the list. I know I don't have the smartest people but I do expect them to have some common fucking sense
  • Varine Varine:
I did do a rare thing for me and hire a girl last month without warning. Everyone was made at me because I started her at like 21, but she worked with me before and I was like don't care. She made 19 at her old job and I wanted her to come work with me, she is the best
    +1
  • Varine Varine:
I'm going to get her a raise at the end of the summer. She wants to go to school again, but I want her to still work with me so.... she kind of can just tell me what the price is. I can go to 25 if she keeps up. I need to get her onto line more, that's what she wants, but I need her where she is and it's not fair that she doesn't get the little bit of raise that comes with it. She can do it no problem, I've worked with her there.
  • Varine Varine:
It's just hard to move and train people unnecessarily right now. And also the line fucking sucks, it's not any more fun. This is turn and burn so I have the bankroll, and everyone suffers for it
  • Varine Varine:
Eventually we'll get it balanced, we'
  • Varine Varine:
we're starting online orders and stuff, but I also turn that off all the time because I barely keep up trying to be the best at Sysco shit
  • Varine Varine:
I think it's gonna be a good fall and winter though. We're going to have a good staff, they will get along, they will be able to manage the workload and the complications, they know how to really cook this year, like every person on line knows their steak temps. Some of them use thermometers a lot and they don't always use them right, but they do know how to do it. Failure, especially in this field, is the only way to get better. They'll get it
  • Varine Varine:
They won't get feel down while they do the thermometer, but we didn't have an instant read probe when I was learning. Like they did but god knows how off it is, you HAD to do it by feel. Even if the chef was fine with me bringing my own, it takes too long. Poke and know

I recently had an experience with a waiter that really brought down @Varine's point about them being in sales. The first waiter just asked "anything else? deserts?" and when the table shook their head said "ok" and left. Then the other waiter came in and started going off describing the deserts and you could see the heads turning, and they finally got a bunch of deserts
  • jonas jonas:
makes sense if you consider that the tip is basically a commission on sales
