Virus Help Me!!

Hey all....i just recently scanned my comp from symantec and it found 2 known virus or trojan horse...I know very little when it comes to computers but i wana learn more. It said that my MSconfig45.exe and my webdav.exe files are infected with Backdoor.Sdbot


Can anybody help me on this? Does anybody know anything about this Backdoor.Sdbot thing and what it does? How do you remove it? Is it harmful? Thanks I really appreciate all of the advice :D
 
thanks...ive seen that before but i have no idea what to do...I know it gives instructions but i think its just too complicating for me....couldnt I just get some anti virus software and scan my comp then it will take care of the virus itself???

Is removing it manually the only way to get rid of it??? Cant software just do it for me???

You can use a free online scanning utility for your computer which will clean all files infected. (At least the one at Trend claims to do so).

Give it a shot and see how it works out.

Edit: However, this will not fix the system restore issue that is necessary for complete removal of this virus if you have Windows XP or Windows ME.

You will have to do those on your own.

So if i turn off the system restore and scan my comp....the files

should be able to be cleaned....is it that simple??? Dont I need to

change the registry because the virus was added to it or

something? I recently scanned my comp with a symantec

anitvirus (corp edition v.8.0) and it found two files infected with

the backdoor.sdbot. The program wasnt able to clean or

quarantine them because it said access denied. I rebooted my

comp then it was able quarantine them right away. Why is that?

Am i safe with them being quarantined? If it helps any, my

infected files are MSConfig45.exe and webdav.exe ----are they

important files? cuz i dont want to delete them if they are. thx guys im really new to this, and any help is good help

It says it drops a copy of itself on the system with a random filename. For all we know, those 2 files are the Trojan and the associated random filename.

According to that link above, there are Registry entries. So, yes you will have to clean those out.

There are no cleaning tools available for this as far as I can see. With some viruses, the anti-virus companies usually release a cleaning tool, but not with this one so you will have to clean the registry and whatever else by hand.

    Depending on how you pour the oil the consistency can vary wildly, but that's true for most emulsions. I can only make about two quarts at a time with my robo coup, and if I have to make several in series because I forgot to order it becomes really obvious even when I do it. We have to wait and mix them all together to make sure we have the same thing.

I do think I won though, I have to keep my fucking core staff and they have to be gainfully employed

She can do it no problem, I've worked with her there.
