glad you got it. but again for further reference (using your picture)...

red = visible
teal = fog of war (explored but not currently visible)
yellow = black mask (unexplored)

Man, this black is a gray mask, that is a problem I was talking about all the time. If you look REALLY closer you can see on minimap that terrain is visible. This was what I was about all the time, seems that there is a 4th type of visibility;

black mask - completely unknown
gray mask(yellow) - terrain known but not explored
'something'(teal) - terrain explored but fogged
visible(red) - currently explored

alternatively, download picture and increase brightness even in windows image viewer.

Open a new map, set Map Options: Unexplored Terrain to Black Mask.
Create a SCV, test the map.
Order the SCV to move a bit, and that generates the four shades.

However, I believe that your Black Mask and Gray Mask(Yellow) definitions are the same visibility: unexplored per se.

are we looking at the same picture? there are only three visibilities on your map my friend... maybe some blending of the three is confusing you?

EDIT: stop saying gray mask... gray = fog of war.

Now look!

On a picture there are only three, I am talking about general now!

You can see the terrain on a minimap, this means it's not a black mask, it means it's gray mask, this means, that yellow stripes are showing gray mask, this means that blue stripes are showing this what I've just told, another new visibility, which is explored but fogged terrain! My God!

This means:

black mask - completely unknown
gray mask(yellow) - terrain known but not explored
'something'(teal) - terrain explored but fogged
visible(red) - currently explored

That sc2 has 4 visibility modes!

What I believe it is:

Black mask - A completely unknown terrain;
Gray mask - Hardly visible but not explored terrain;
Fog of War - Explored but fogged terrain;
Visible - A terrain currently explored by a unit or structure;

Look, I found a 5th visibility mode: the Toxic Mask.

Again, FannyShaver. Your "Gray Mask" is just the Black Mask with the color parameter tweaked a bit: you can't have both at the same time.

Man, did I ever said I had all 4? I didn't, I just said, there are 4 in here, wc3 had only 3. Enough. Removed from subs.
